You got it all wrong. It seems to me like you are repeating some things that has been told you without any research or some reading of your own.
Turkish is an Ural-Altaic language like Finnish,Estonian and our writing, the real Turkish writing is not similar to Arabic at all. We once used Arabic Alphabet because at that time there was Ottoman Empire and this type of writing was used then. But arabic Alphabet was never compatible with Turkish language. Our culture is nothing like Arabic culture.
We are where we are since a long time and We are a Euroasian country we are not pretending anything since we don't need any pretending. We have a huge history, an important culture, one of the best cuisines in the world and more.
So get your facts right and don't talk like a parrot that learnt new things from his owners came here to show them.
If you need further info i suggest you read some books instead of making false statements in YA.

I love the Double WHY questions!
They are Turks, they are what they are and have always been between Asia and Europe, naturally they are affected by both, especially since the Ottoman Empire used to stretch out in all directions.
And so what if they are Asian, everyone writes this like it is a great insult?! Do you think Asians are inferior to Europeans? Do you think 'European' is a great complement? I think it is the use of the word 'pretend' that gives the impression that you think being Asian is bad. Would you agree that they are in between, culturally and ethnically, they are Asian-Europeans.
Someone else came out with a question similar to this and attached this link to prove that Turks are Asian: http://news.independent.co.uk/world/asia/article1222214.ece
But I got something else out of the article... I got that I, as a Celt, which is undeniable that I am, AM ASIAN TOO! at least a bit, and I was happy.
Viva e' Asians!
Panzi e' Europeans!
I couldn't resist writing a little ZULU for you... Viva you know, Panzi is 'down with.'
Happy Monday!
Thank you for your question, we get tired of writing about the same things.

Although your English is very bad, I understood what you are trying to say (thanks to being a Turk, therefore clever).
Now, I am trying to understand your motive in asking this question. Are you implying that being Asian is 'bad', and being European is 'good'? If so, you have a racist point of view. Are you implying that Arabic script is inferior to the Latin alphabet? If so, this is also a racist view. Are you implying that the geographical poisiton of a capital city is important in deciding about a country? Would it make Turkey European if the capital was moved to Edirne (by the way, do you know where that is?)? And what if the next president of the USA is a black man of African origin? Would the USA become an African country then? Would that make USA a 'backward, underdeveloped' country?
Your whole argument lacks reason and any kind of scientific base. It hurts to see there are still men in the 21st Century that have minds belonging to the dark ages.
Oh, by the way, for your information, Turks came to Earth from the galaxy known as Sirius (Fatih's information is wrong I am afraid). Sirius is a galaxy in proximity with Alpha Centauri (any idea where that is?). Our planet is known to Earth scientists as XJZ3, and revolves around the star (sun) 235AiYTLeu. There are 27 other planets in our solar system.

Do you think that the White Argentinians are Native American Indians ?
Do you think that the White South-Africans are Black Africans ?
Do you think that the White Australians are Aborigene Australians?
Do you think that the Black Americans are Native American Indians?
Do you think that the Armenians are Europeans ?

Why do you judge ethnicity upon geographic location?

Turks are UNIC.

There are Asian alike Turks, Arab alike Turks, Swedish alike Turks, Spanish alike Turks,etc...
No matter our skin colour or our ethnic features, we are all Turks.

Being a Turk is a pride and a privilege that only 73 million people in the world can enjoy.

I am Turk, and I am happy.

You are not Turk...I am sad for you...

Good question... I lived there 2 years and had no idea what the Turks were. Maybe they are a melting-pot kind of people, some Greek, some Russian, etc. etc.

Why are people so interested in whether we are European or not? Despite being a Turk this question never occurs to me. I simply don't care. Call us Asian or even call me BLACK.

I DO NOT CARE.

And so what? Israel is in Asia and technically speaking Cyprus is in Asia too?

Ataturk was born in Salonika (do I need to tell you where this is?) and they use Latin script.
