I once had a girlfriend who was Christian.

I myself am an atheist. So I did tell her that the Bible and God was a bunch of lies.

She ofcourse got very mad at me for mocking God.

Later she gave me a chance to explain to her why Christianity was fake.

Well I successfully converted her to an atheist.

Later I asked her why she decided on becoming a Christian and she told me she thought the church was beautiful so she wanted to be a Christian O_o

What I am saying is that there are lots of Christians all over the world but more than 80% (atleast) have silly reasons for being one and very easy to convert such as my girl friend.

Therefore claiming that there are a lot of Christians all around the world as a point of proving Christianity's validity is not all so accurate after all.

What do you Christians think?

God is not proved by numbers but by revelation of God.
Christ himself said not everyone who says to him lord lord is saved.
Those who love and seek the truth will find hm and they will receive a gift called faith and through faith receive revelation form God and a personal relationship with him.

To Nightwolf - people believing it does not make it true. That is probably the weakest argument for Christianity. If you can not make a sensible argument, then do us Christians and yourself a favor and go figure out why you really believe what you believe.

Axel, I am ashamed of you - dating someone who was so easily swayed in her beliefs, and so foolishly and weakly believed them in the first place. Why would you continue dating this girl? I even question your motive in continuing this relationship - this is the action of someone who wants an easy path to power.

You are correct - there are many people all over the world who believe things for no valid reason. They aren't just limited to Christianity - how about global warming, being 'green', politics of any kind, atheism, Ba'Hai, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses....

The problem is, nobody is interested in the truth. If we were all interested in truth, and truth alone, we would all believe the same thing. But we want to believe in God, or not, as a matter of our own will. If we do not, we deny God in spite of overwhelming evidence. When we do believe in God, we want him to be what we want him to be - a god of our own design - hence the many different religions and sects within religions.

Fortunately, God just is. We can try to take Him apart, stuff Him into our mold, deny His existence, get mad at Him for not making our lives like we want (particularly when we are forced to pay the conseqences of our own errors), pray to Him (our 'vending machine god') to make and do and be what we want. But He never, ever stops Being. Being just what He is, no more, no less. Nothing we wish we could do will ever change that.

I think some atheists are really just idealists in skeptic's clothing. They want just one person to come along who will acknowledge truth for truth's sake; with no twisting or conniving or bending or folding or blinding or self-aggrandizing. But maybe I am crediting atheists with too much honesty. I mean honestly, a pedestal is no place for a person to live. But if what I say is true, atheists are really expecting too much of people.

May an agnostic answer your question addressed to Christians?

I think that no one should be trying to "convert" anyone into becoming an atheist. Present the facts and the logic, and if that leads them to disbelieve in God, that is one thing. But to purposely try to destroy one's faith in their god or religion for the sake of "converting" them is wrong, in my belief.

You do make a good point, though. Many, probably most Christians (or followers of any religion) follow that faith simply because it is what they have been taught.

here is something to brighten up ur day. Jesus says in the bible we are the church. we should bring the church to the people. well there's nothing wrong with bringing some1 to church. wat i'm trying to bring across is that, you ex-gf might have been a "Christian" but...not a follower of Christ and might not have knew the truth of the bible much. for God says "men does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matt 4:4). and if u feel that Christians make it sounds like there's alot of Christians in this world to prove Christianity's validity u r wrong. mayb some1 did say that 2 u or w/e i dono. but most of them r "Christians" not follower of Christ... there's a big differences.

God says in his word not all who call Him father will go to heaven but rather hell. so don't be surprise to see theologians in hell..

The girl you successfully made an atheist is not a real Christian. She knows God in her head and not in her heart or spirit. She is not born again by the conviction and the power of the Holy Spirit. I would not want to generalise but would prefer to look at each one who claim to be a Christian and spiritually discern with the help of the Holy Spirit whether that person is born again. A true Christian will have the Holy Spirit inside of him and will bear true fruit of his faith and of the Spirit.

Actually, true Christians always believed there is only a chosen few called Remnant that will be saved and that are true Christians.

Yup, in the world there are mostly silly Christians ... but just a few true Christians. And, there are tons of true Christians that once were convinced atheists. For instance, try this guy:

No one is truly a Christian until they have accepted Jesus Christ into thier life and already believe Jesus Christ went to the cross for thier sins, they repent and ask for forgiveness and receive the Holy Spirit, It is impossible to convert a Christian into an athiest, because Once you have the Holy Spirit you have salvation, and salvation cannot be taken away.

No what you did, is took this girl, told her a bunch of lies from your perspective and shattered her view on how pretty a church was, that is all, I pray you have not chased her away from God with your lies, and I pray that you'll find the truth, instead of wanting to hurt people, because if you loved her, you wouldn't of stood in her way of salvation.

I sincerely believe that you are afraid of looking at the truth, because you are scared that God is right, well God is right and God is real and simply by ignoring something isn't there is not going to make it go away, oh yes there is a hell, but there is also A Holy Kingdom and you are making that choice, there is no way out of judgement.

wow your right you have converted me, can i join your church?
just kidding, I think it is because the basis and the very foundation of Christianity is blind faith, in other words these people will believe something (anything) because they are told to or for whatever their personal reason is (pretty church), without seeing facts or proof unlike an atheist who requires proof before they can be convinced of anything. so with that understanding, how can they not be converted? they don't require anything other than someone telling them "trust me, its real" and they say "ok save me"
I know i am going to get a lot of thumbs down for this because the question is directed at Christians but the fact still remains and they cannot deny it, they believe because they have faith, not proof. so you figure out what that means about the validity of religion.

Im a Christian and i agree with this because the bible agrees with it.
:)

Matthew 7:13-14
[Jesus speaking]
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."

I don't think any of it. I talked to five of my Atheist friends about Christianity and they all came to Jesus over a cup of coffee. It's true there are alot of Christians who dont even have a reason for coming to Christ and personally I wish they would never have come until they were finally ready.

I would agree that most will easily deconvert, but I doubt it is as high as 80%. I'm still working on deconverting my roommate. He was a hardcore christian when we first met three months ago. He still goes to church, but he is starting to question his faith's validity.
