1. Yes
2. A. BIBLICAL WORDS FOR TRUTH...
1. True (alethes) - "unconcealed, manifest...actual, true to fact"
- Vine
2. True (alethinos) - "denotes 'true' in the sense of 'real,
ideal, genuine;'" - ibid.
3. Truth (aletheia)
a. "objectively, signifying 'the reality lying at the basis of
an appearance; the manifested, veritable essence of a
matter' (Cremer)" - ibid.
b. "subjectively, 'truthfulness,' 'truth,' not merely verbal,
but sincerity and integrity of character" - ibid.
-- When the Bible speaks of truth, it describes that which
corresponds to reality, what is factual and absolute, not
relative
3. No
4. No
5.Everyone has different perceptions of truth. We all know that the sky is blue (don't get technical on me) If I were to say that the sky is purple would that change the fact that the sky is blue?
6. No it means exactly the same thing. See question 2
7.There is only one truth. How other people think of truth doesn't change truth itself

(1) No.
(2) I don't say it, but I would assume that the implication is that all truth is derived from the Bible, Torah, Koran, Dao de Jing, ect, and that any conflicts that arise between the holy scriptures and, say, science, indicate that science is false because God can never be. I hate this ideology.
(3) No, not if I talked to a fundamentalist of any religion, because mine is correct and theirs isn't.
(4) Many would, yes.
(5) Whether or not people "agree" is irrelevant. If I say the sky is blue and 6 billion people say it's green, I'm right and their wrong. I say the earth is 5 billion years old, others say it's 6,000. I'm right, they're wrong, period.
(6) Eh, no.
(7) What IS your definition of truth?

2007-11-05 16:57:29 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

1) Yes I believe God is truth.

2)God is truth because from Him comes all truth. Everything in His Word is true (The Bible) He created all, including truth. We must define truth before this discussion can continue.

1. the true or actual state of a matter: He tried to find out the truth.
2. conformity with fact or reality; verity: the truth of a statement.
3. a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, principle, or the like: mathematical truths.
4. the state or character of being true.
5. actuality or actual existence.
6. an obvious or accepted fact; truism; platitude.
7. honesty; integrity; truthfulness.
8. (often initial capital letter) ideal or fundamental reality apart from and transcending perceived experience: the basic truths of life.
9. agreement with a standard or original.
10. accuracy, as of position or adjustment.
11. Archaic. fidelity or constancy.
—Idiom
12. in truth, in reality; in fact; actually: In truth, moral decay hastened the decline of the Roman Empire.

I especially like # 8.

God does not fit this definition in the area that, He is disputed, and for many, not obvious. This is then attributable to unbelief cause by the lies of satan.

3) One who doesn't believe in God would have a very hard time agreeing with my statement and definition of truth.

4) If someone doesn't agree with God, and doesn't believe that there is an absolute truth, then no they won't agree with God being truth.

5) The fact that not everyone supports the same definition supports the fact the God is truth. In the Word it says that to some the truth has been hidden. At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. (matt 11:25, niv)

6) it would be correct, but not better.

7) Because I believe that no matter who you are, where you've come from, what you've done, or what you think you've done; God created the Earth and man, and that even though man is sinful, God loved us by sending His Son to take what punishment is rightfully ours, (because God is just) so that we could spend eternity with him in Heaven, and that is the truth, and it does not change.

Yes, I believe God is truth. We know what truth is by knowing God, in whom there is no falsehood.
People of a different religion would disagree with God as truth.
No an atheist would not acknowledge God so would not use a Him as a basis for truth.
#5 No, I don't agree. Truth is truth whether people accept it / believe it or not. Example, I can say I don't believe in gravity. It is based on faulty science. Then I can jump off a building and crash to the ground. My false belief had no bearing on truth or reality.
#6 No, it wouldn't.
#7Fact is hard and cold, a mathematical calculation thing. God in truth is much more than that. In God's truth is relationship/ love. Truth has as much to do with character and honesty as it does fact. Truth is dealing with people without deceit or falsehood, no lies. Truth is relational. Truth creates trust in a person's nature/ character. Facts are cold hard and neutral things. If God was fact he would be more like a machine than a personal God who is willing to in love be honest with me, not to nail me with facts, but to set me free and help me grow in truth.

We can say God is truth but still be unaware of what the true nature of that truth is. Therefore, we are likely to have different and conflicting ideas from others.
