This is spooky... I was thinking about the same question earlier this afternoon... I'll be curious to see the answers.
This was my question... why are evangelical vegetarians so rare?

The OT tells people not to be vegetarians . Romans says something to the effect that men who eat only veggies will be weak . It also says it is OK to eat all but the banned meat and shellfish . It also allows for the ritual sacrafice of animals , which the Muslims are still big on .
I can't understand how a vegetarian can consider the Bible to be little more than nonsense stories .

I'm a bit seasonal. Because I eat a lot of fruits and veggies in the summer and lots of rice, dried beans, and meat in the winter. I don't like pork or beef. I won't eat it. Not bc the bible said so, but that helps me keep away My eating habit comes from a farming family I think.

i am not a vegetarian but i avoid crustaceans and pork as it was forbidden in Leviticus.. no one will go to heaven by their own works though only through His grace and mercy..but in this arena I choose to be faithful and do what God said just because he said so..and the funny thing is I dint miss either meat crustaceans especially.

Well I am a Christian, though not a vegetarian.
though I thoroughly believe what the Lord says in this regard:
Romans 14:1-9
1 Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. 2 One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. 4 Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. 8 If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
May you be blessed in whatever you decide to eat, as you do so to the Glory of God our Savior!
