I think that this subject is one that many individuals care a great deal about, this can clearly be seen by the amount of thumbs up/ thumbs down rating on answers, most Yahoo answer categories do not seem to have such focus on the rating of peoples answers. There are basically two sides on this subject, and this is a very important subject because the theory of global warming associates damaging global climatic change with the actions of peoples ordinary lives. If people are to be implicated with destruction of the future generations climate, many people will do all they can to ensure that their view on the topic is heard.
I think a lot of people continually post questions, so that the innocent and or naive people that come to this sight looking for the truth about this subject will not be mislead by the other side. Clearly many people view this subject as an ethical one as well as a political one.

Unfortunately, a lot of people use Yahoo Answers not to ask questions but to make statements disguised as questions. This is especially prevalent in the Global Warming section. Although I have degrees in relevant fields and many years of professional experience, I rarely answer questions in the section anymore because of the extreme positions and language often displayed there.

I am going back to a few months ago when you and your other alarmists stated that indeed the Mann "hockey stick" was incorrect and you had reasons for it then why Mann was incorrect in his assumptions and why were the deniers keep bringing it up. Instead of wasting my time trying to find that discourse why don't you or one of your people locate it for us to answer your own question. I believe Ottawa Mike's answer answered your question which was by the way just another rant as you already concluded months ago that it was false. So do you really have this much time on your hands to spew this propaganda to the people on this site?

Its so political and splintered and quite frankly all over the place. It is so boring asking the same question 'is the world getting warmer', but what questions are you supposed to ask in the Environment section? I have better luck posting disguised environment questions outside the Environment section, less trolls you see!!!, and less high horses as well if you know what i mean.

Nobody knows all there is to know, even if they know a fair bit, but why post?
Sometimes it is to gauge how others think.
Sometimes for provide a platform for model answers.
Sometimes to encourage debate.
Sometimes to provide a counterbalance.
Sometimes to have a stack of answers to stave off boredom.
Sometimes because well...why not..
and sometimes, just sometimes - to learn more.

When more answerers agree with their questions the more confident they feel. Actually its not really answers they want but the moral support that goes with it.

For various reasons.
Sometimes to spread information (or misinformation).
Sometimes to try and find people to confirm that they are right.
Sometimes just to try and make a point.
Different people have different motivations.

it comes under ranting
to try to prove what they think is a point
to try to convince people at all costs
that they are on the side of truth
and others must join them.
religion does the same
and they tend to be the same people

Maybe they just think they know the answer.
The questions seem to be loaded and not conducive to debate.
