Is it possible to get a tattoo done with texture? I mean, could the artist put more ink into a spot for example to raise the skin on that area? I can't find any info on it, but I've seen a few photos where the tattoos look almost embossed...

Keitha what your referring to could be pictures of a just done tattoo, they will swell or raise up a bit looking very glossy and almost embossed.
Texture in a tattoo is bad it usually means that there is some kind of scaring either from the artist going too deep or from the person not taking care of it.
A good artist can get depth or texture done on a tattoo with shading and use of color. But it wont actually be raised up.

If a tattoo looks raised (or as you say, embossed) it means that the artist pressed too hard into the skin when doing the tattoo, and the raised part of the skin is scar tissue. This isn't a good thing, and is usually a sign of an inexperienced or overzealous tattoo artist. But to answer your question, it's possible, sure, but it's not done on purpose. If you see a tat this way, it was an accident.

a talented artist can make a tattoo look dimensional with the use of different ink colors. it really does take an extremely talented artist to do that. putting more ink in one area to make the skin raise won't result in a tattoo that looks good because the only way to raise the skin in that manner is to damage it and make a scar and scarring can't be controlled like that. the best thing to do is seek out tattoo artists that are very good at what they do. look at their portfolios and see if they can create a dimensional effect with shading. check out my artist and his portraits which all have a very dimensional aspect.

i think what you're referring to is when the tattoo artist diggs the needle too far into the skin, causing it to raise up in the inked parts. the pictures you've seen were probably taken soon after the tattoo was done, but I think after a while the skin goes down

A good artist through shading and skill, can achieve a tattoo that looks 3-D. My hubby has a Norse tat that looks like carved stone. It's a great effect, but all ink!

if a tattoo is raised it is most likely because the artist went too deep and there was heavy scarring. to get a truly textured tattoo you would want to look into implants.

Usually, it's a type of scarification where they rub ink into the open wound after a cut has been made.

Go to a tattoo parlor and ask them if they can do it.

I don't think you can. I have searched everywhere and cannot find any information on it.
