Water baptism is not required for salvation, and it cannot save anyone.
The only way to be saved is to believe that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose again.
Those who believe that, are saved. Water baptism is for the already saved, as a declaration that you're saved.

Baptism at any age is always 100% effective at sweeping sin from the soul, making one a temple of the Holy Spirit, an adopted child of God, co-heir with Jesus Christ, and a member of the church, simply because God desires all to be saved.
Infant baptism, as practiced in the Catholic church, is the most significant demonstration of salvation with absolutely no works at all, since the infant can do nothing for itself, and all that is necessary is freely provided by God, and his faithful and authentic church.
The Catholic church, according to the teachings of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the apostles, has always maintained that water baptism, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, is typically necessary for salvation.
Those who believe otherwise should ask themselves this question, "Do ya' feel lucky? Well, do ya'?"
Because you're taking a BIG gamble with your eternal destiny.

Babies have historically been baptized it is more than a symbolic bath as the Bible and tradition talks about baptism for the remission of sin. The thief on the Cross shows that God has the power to forgive sin and can see a penitent heart so he is not going to condemn a man fornot filling in all the blanks of the sacraments, but those of us seeking the Lord should follow them as best as we can and as soon as we can.

I don't think that if someone isn't baptized they're going to Hell, but you definetly should be baptized to obey Jesus's command about baptism. I think that if someone is going to be a pastor/priest, they should DEFINETLY be baptised if they're going to be baptising other people. It sounds a little hypocritical to be telling people they need to be baptised if you haven't been yourself, doesn't it?
I don't think babies should be baptised untill they're older and have accepted Jesus as their savoir.

Christian baptism, according to the Bible, is an outward testimony of what has occurred inwardly in a believer’s life. Christian baptism illustrates a believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. The Bible declares, “Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life” (Romans 6:3-4 NIV). In Christian baptism, the action of being immersed in the water pictures being buried with Christ. The action of coming out of the water pictures Christ’s resurrection.
In Christian baptism, there should be two requirements before a person is baptized: (1) the person being baptized must have trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior, and (2) the person must understand what baptism signifies. If a person knows the Lord Jesus as Savior, understands that Christian baptism is a step of obedience in publicly proclaiming his faith in Christ, and desires to be baptized – then there is no reason to prevent the believer from being baptized. According to the Bible, Christian baptism is simply a step of obedience, a public proclamation of one’s faith in Christ alone for salvation. Christian baptism is important because it is a step of obedience – publicly declaring faith in Christ and commitment to Him, and identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.

Baptism should be done after you have asked Jesus Christ into your life and our saved, It really doesn't do good to baptize a baby, the baby does not know what is going on, We are saved by the Grace of God, by Jesus going to The Cross so we could be forgiven our sins, once We come Confess, and Repent inviting Jesus Christ into our lives, we can be baptized to show others we are saved, for our testimony in Christ.

Great question. Yes it necessary. The whole ritual is used as a spiritual method to cleanse the individual of their sins.... like "wash away the sins of the world". It's a ritual that also involves being reborn again in His holy name and to be saved. Families/parents have their babies baptized as their own personal choice, since babies are not conscious of their actions. Parents use religion and its associations to assist in a child's upbringing. Many Catholics do christenize their babies. Myself, I got baptized when I was a young girl (less than 10yrs old). Was it a conscious action? Yes. I might not have thoroughly understood it as I do now. But I knew it was absolutely a positive, supportive, joyful and beneficial ceremony for me to go through. I remember it as if it was done yesterday.

baptism should only be for those who know right from wrong... and are willing to repent of their sins... so not for babies. baptizing babies is anti biblical... also baptism should be done by submerging one's whole body underneath water and in the name of Jesus. and yea... its a key to salvation..

Baptism is an outward sign that you accept the Gospel. As such, it should be limited to people old enough to make that decision.
My understanding of Jesus' conversation with Nichodemus means that we must be baptized.

I do not believe that babies should be baptized. It is not in the bible and it is an action in which you covenant with Christ to follow Him. This should be a choice. I do believe that baptism by the proper authority is necessary. Christ was baptized and He was perfect. He set the example and we are to follow.
