WW1 The Australian Light Horse charged the Turkish held garrison at Bathsheaba, 1000 years of Muslim rule was conquered in an astonishing assault raid by the 800 Australian Light Horsemen who charged at dusk, over running the Turkish defences while being shot at by enemy machine gun fire, artillery and German pilots dropping hand held mortars from over head sweeps. Outnumbered they than dismounted and captured the stronghold to turn the course of the Regional War and capture and preserve life saving wells for water. This is a feat the Brittish and otehr Allies were unable to chieve across open desert and a magnificent Victory and Gallipoli. Only 34 men were fell during the charge which chaged the campaign !

NB; I meant to say a Magnificant Victory, given the prior poor planning by the Brittish at Gallipoli !

yeah I Did, those blokes had balls the size of grapefruits. What a shame we hear little about it though.
Out of 800 blokes on horses, only 30 or so died, and it must have been terrorfying facing machine gun fire and those mongrels overhead in aircraft.
I found it sad what they did with the horses at the end, but they had no choice I suppose.
Yes, very proud of them. And they wont be forgotten.

Yes it gave me goosebumps makes you proud to be an Aussie so no wonder the blokes that are related to the diggers where so proud.
I thought if this was an American story it would have made its way to Hollywood but with one exception they wouldn't of had to bend the truth to make a sensational story.

Yes, I did, It was very emotional, makes you proud to be Australian.
Not many other countries realise what a big part our diggers played.

Yea, it was the best peice 60 minutes has ever shown i believe. why is it we remember the defeats but not the victorys? long live vets.
