K i cant sleep, so ill ask this before bed.

I want to join the military. Ive always wanted too since i was little, cuz my dad...long story.

Anyway, i want to join. Ive ALWAYS been a great shot, since i was old enough to hold a pellet gun, ive always been able to hit a bullseye from a long ways away.

So i was thinking maybe a marksmen a.k.a. sniper

But then again, i like being up in the action, i like being in the face of the enemy, 'so i can see the look on his face when i win' lol like that quote.

Whats your advice if i went about joining?

oh and i know it might be helpful to know i have diabetes

-Night!

As a diabetic, you will have to request a waiver to join the military. This will also preclude you from some military operational specialties.

If you have Type 1 diabetes, I would not think you would be a good candidate for deployment to the field for any extended period if at all. You may need to look at positions where medical support is available. This would include shipboard duty in the Navy, or support positions. In my opinion, It would not be in the best interest of the soldier or the unit to have an insulin dependent diabetic in a forward deployed unit. Glucose control due to the use of MRE rations and the inability to provide a ready source of refrigeration and replacement of insulin would make use of insulin highly difficult. Even dietary control is difficult in the field as the ability to monitor and support the glucose level is not guaranteed.

Still you can join Military.

From your message, it's looking your life aim is to join Military. Don't worry you have selected a wonderful field to serve nation.

Don't hesitate and loose time. First you go and join Military.

Diabetes may not disturb you. Military actions may help your body to gain some exercise and get good health.

You just reduce having sugar content foods. That's all.

Nothing will happen ya. All the best.

Marine corps, infantry. your definitely in the face of the enemy.
or at least a very high chance.

my husbands infantry but not getting deployed to a combat area. (which im thankful for)

but you can still go sniper if you take the route of infantry, because sniper falls under the infantry.

diabetes isn't an issue for joining however it may be one for being a sniper. plus being a sniper is more than just a good shot you have to have the mentality for it also.(one shot one kill its a lot more on the personal level because you get to know your enemy before you kill it.)
