The same place he was on Dec. 26, 2004 as a tsunami killed almost 200,000 people.
The same place he is right now as hundreds of thousands are being slaughtered in Darfur.

If he couldn't stop it from happening, he's not omnipotent.
If he is omnipotent and choose not to stop it, he's not worthy of my worship.

I can also say as Muslim where is God, Americans have caused over 100.000 deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan and are now planning to attacking Iran because they want to have atomic energy though America has more A-Boms than any other country in the world.

But Muslims never make God responsible for all what humans do to each other. Because we know God sends all sourls on earth for test to show us later how we behaved in prosperity, in poverty, in weakness and in strength. It doesn't matter to God how many die. Because God send us on earth and he can call us back any time. We belong to God, we are his creations.

We also know God is Just. When he ends the life of a good pious man, he no long wants to continue his test because he passed the test and God earmarks heaven for him.

Those who think nothing beyond this life on earth, and this life is too dear to them are the one who cry and complain against God why didn't he save 3000 men in 9/11. Why didn't God do this, Why didn't God do that. They talk about their loss only. They never say why didn't God
redirected A-Bombs we dropped in Japan towards oceans. They never talk why doesn't God send our your soldiers back home from countries where they don't belong to be.

You guys are nothing but the CRY BABIES. You cry only for your ownself. You feel happy hurting others just like a baby slaps on the face of his parents and laughs. When some one slaps a little to correct baby's behaviour then he does nothing but crying

LIKE YOU ARE DOING NOW.

The question can be rephrased into, "Why does God allow bad things to happen?"

This is also the same point that Buddha made when he said, "Life is suffering."

The answer is that dealing with suffering is a fundemental aspect of life. There is no way not to have suffering. Either you die before your children, or they die before you. Everything is impermanent. Everyone dies. Etc.

Buddha's solution was to follow the eight-fold path to overcome suffering. Christians do it by their faith and belief in heaven. Everyone has to deal with it. Some more than others.

No one can say why life has suffering, at least not in this lifetime. Sometimes suffering teaches a lesson, but that's not always apparent.

In the minds and hearts of followers...

But it seems as though you're questioning the supposed character of the divine rather than its existence.

...and people did respond. So, some may have looked at the sympathetic reaction and believed it was evident that God was with and working through us, while others would have looked at it and said this reaction is part of human nature.

It all depends on your perspective.

God has a plan for each of is. This life is only part of His plan, so even though tragedies happen, God is not ruining the individual's chance. is part of life. 9/11 was horrible, and it is an example of how we can use our agency poorly. We may blame "them", the Muslims, the extremists, whatever, but in reality they are humans just like you and I, and they are children of God as you and I are. Yes they used their agency differently than you would hope, and definitely differently than the families of those affected hoped, but it is all part of the deal. We are hear to learn and grow, and unfortunately it can be hard, but Christ never leaves us. He is always there for us.

Engaging in limited interference, as mankind reaps what it sows.
Direct interference by God would undermine the basic idea of faith. How can one have faith if it is proven to them beyond a doubt that God is almighty?

So, yea. God was watching over the world as a whole, but allowing his children to do as they will, good or evil.
