I was watching on animal planet and they said something about that the turantula's venum isn't deadly. It's just like a bee-sting..

Is that true?

A Tarantula's venom is only deadly to a person who is allergic to bee stings. Then it is a life/death situation. I sell Tarantulas for pets, mostly friendly ones that can be handled easily. I own two Tarantulas as well. The Tarantula's defense system is "hair kicking." When hairs scatter in any direction and hit a target, especially a small animal, it feels a painful sensation and generally leaves the Tarantula alone. To humans, it is an itchy, burny sensation. I tell customers to always hold Tarantulas away from the face for that reason.
EDIT: I'm the one Miss Ellie is referring to.

A tarantula bite can kill you but then there are many species of Tarantulas. Which one was the Animal Planet covering?

yes its true, as big as they are they have one of the weakest venoms. By the way, this shouldn't be asked in Botany ( which is the study of plants)
