Besides the obvious death and destruction, there is economic and political damage -- to both sides.

In order to create the supplies and equipment for war, the countries must forego the production of commercial goods and services in favor of producing war materials.

A goodly portion of such products will be expended or damaged during the war, to no one's benefit.

At the end of the war, one or both sides are going to have a sizeable lot of scrap metal cluttering up somebody's landscape.

Politically, governments tend to become more centralized during a war, and rarely revert back to the more freer pre-war years. (Governments are, in general, loathe to return the political power thus attained.)

The land where the battles were fought will take at least a generation to recover, as well as the surviving inhabitants.

to paraphrase a quote War is the continuation of politics by a different means regrettably war has a positive economic effect on all parties involved as in more work available due to the loss of population the construction of war materials and the rebuilding of the infrastructure of the combatants to name a few it also leads to short term stability due to the victor setting the new rules (however it not done properly results in renewed strife IE WWI vs WWII Marshall plan) and an easing of general tensions. War also changes the perceptions of the combatants (good vs evil) in the world society and the nations ability to project power but in general unless you are one of the power brokers it just sucks period these are just a few RESULTS of the human condition know as warfare

The governments of the losing nation will no doubt be changed. And that includes all the conditions that will be imposed on the losers. Look at what happened to the people of Germany, Yugoslavia, etc. etc when the victorious Russians claimed a large part of that continent.

People of oppressive governments may find they have benefited by losing the war.

Besides death and destruction, there is the result of less power for one nation and more for another. There may be lessened threat to other countries because of the country that was defeated, so they have peace. It may mean freedom for people who were being held under an unfair government. It also can cause upheaval in the life of innocent people. Never good but sometimes necessary to protect freedom.

well the truth of the matter it is death and destruction. if you want more than that you need to be specific as to what war. every war is different and has different results. it would also matter if you on the winning or losing side.

Land would scorched, like the two Japanese village been destroyed by the atomic bombs. And the "no-man's land" during WW I, the no-man's land were once green fields, but artillery pounded it into black, muddy hell. Tons of resources will also be consumed, King Philip of Spain chopped down tons of trees to built his armada. Plants and animals would die due to the effects of weapons like poison gas. Weapon produces in factories, and factories needs coals to function, which adds to pollution. Tanks and other vehicles needs oil, which adds to pollution. War is a scourge that terrify all creations.
