I just learned a lot about the sacred Mormon undergarments (incorrectly called "magic underwear" by some). They sound kind of neat. ***How come other Christian sects don't have anything like them?***

If I were updating a branch of Christianity I would definitely include sacred undergarments! Hell, I'd even use the name "magic underpants" to make them sound powerful yet mysterious! Who's with me!

How about no underpants and let the magic happen on its own.

I think without question that the apparent lack of mystical sub-pant barriers are a profound source of controversy. In the event that you were to create a cult that supported and encouraged the wearing of magic underpants, I would be your first member.

But in the reality of the question, Mormonism is a neo-Christian sect, that was developed in the nineteenth century, long after the primary foundations of Christianity. The ideas of magical plates, undergarments, and the existence of the Garden of Eden in Missouri, were all add ons that were deemed ridiculous by the mainstream churches of the time. Basically, it's because they were too bug and too conservative to change their ways.

Laqtter-day saints (called Mormons by 19th century critics) believe that they are under new covenants with God that other Christians have not accepted. The temple garments are daily reminders of that covenant, similar to the clergy collars worn by some denominations.

I think the closest thing that non-LDS have are WWJD items and crucifix jewelry. Both serve as physical reminders to keep Christ and his teachings central to one's life, but are much more superficial (no pun intended) in nature than a physical remnant of a heavenly covenant.

P.S: Ron is confusing Muslims and Latter-day Saints.
We believe that Christ is the savior of the world and the only begotten Son of God the Father. Muslims believe that Christ was a prophet only, representing the soul of God.

The only thing sacred that man has is a soul and spirit and that comes from God. Man brings nothing into this world and man cannot take anything from this world when he leaves it. So undergarments and other material things do not matter.

regrettably the people who probable could desire to get the ingredient of this question the main are ones that are too busy screaming approximately how Mormons arent Christians. i'm getting how atheists can criticize the belief of Joseph Smith and the e book of Mormon as totallly ludicrous, yet the place do different Christians get off claiming that the Joseph Smith tale or the e book of Mormon is any much less attainable or crazier than that of the Bible? I dont assume non mormon Christians to have self belief the story or have self belief the e book of Mormon is the expertise of God, yet i will checklist probable one hundred thoughts interior the Bible, or interior the history of mainstream Christianity that are ten situations greater loopy or dazzling sounding or corrupt than that of the Joseph Smith tale or any thoughts interior the Bible.

Most other sects have full-time clergy who already have uniforms of sorts to signify their positions. LdS have a lay clergy, so we need something that is inconspicuous to wear during our day jobs.

EDIT:

Ron, Mormons accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Joseph Smith Jr is just a prophet - albeit the first prophet of the current dispensation.

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, not the Church of Joseph Smith.

Christian means Christ like, And Christ has nothing to do with magic, that is an evil spirit, and there is no power in underpants, only power in the blood of Jesus who came as a perfect man and died for the sins of the world so we can have eternal life. NO MAGIC OR UNDERPANTS.

I don't know if the infamous Britney is Christian, but she could certainly benefit from joining such a religion.

I really shouldn't make light as garments are really sacred, but since you are talking about it in a slightly different context (outside of the priesthood and sacred covenants), I couldn't resist.

Leslieanns answer intrigues me. Can this scenario apply on a deserted beach with some hot australian guys after I have been hit on the head with a cococut and cant remember any of my moral beliefs?

Oh my gosh people mormons do believe in Christ as their savior. The church of JESUS CHRIST of latterday saints, lol.
No they dont believe Christ is God, but anyone that has read anything by Paul in the BIBLE really shouldnt believe Jesus is God either. Son of God, not God. Savior of the world.
