OK this is a stab in the dark. I need someone to draw up a some blueprints for me to build an apartment on my house for my Mom who is 76 we are looking at approx 600 sq feet. Mom is in good shape physically but Dad passed away just a month ago and I want to get her moved by me as soon as possible while she is still strong enough to make some decisons and strong enough to move.
Mom wants something simple a small bedroom with a bathroom accesibale to that and a closet to hang her clothes a very small kitchen and a dining and living room combo.
I would like to see the bathroom for a elderly lady because I know she will get there someday I hope I mean a stand up shower only with a seat built into it and all doors wide enough for a wheel chair.
I would not be asking for the help if I could afford just to slap down some money and have somebody do it. Mom is paying for her own building. I just don't want her to spend everything she has to to that

I know I can get help building it I just need a starting point. I feel like if I do not ask for the help we need we will not get any. So if anyone is feeling generous I would appreciate the help. Oh we have no restrictions in our area and I live in Alabama

A program called Home Design will help you. I'm sorry I don't have the program anymore, but it's on sale at Best Buy right now for right at $50. It will also keep you from being taken by contractors. If you tell the program what you want, it will tell you what is need to accomplish your goal. My husband and I used to own a construction company and we used this program. Good luck! God Bless!

A good starting point is using software and sort of doing it yourself. It is inexpensive and you'll have some plans to work of of when you meet with a contractor.

If you use a live-person, you will probably have to pay good money...and that designer/architect/drafter will probably use software to design it.
