One of the answers to my Genesis question said that God intended Adan and Eve to live forever. Now, as I understand it. The Christian God is an all knowing God. So, how could he possibly have intended Adam and Eve to live forever when clearly, He would know they're going to eat the fruit and die?

Again...how did they disobey God? He knows everything, and it all goes according to His plan. So, He told them not to eat it, knowing they're going to and that's ok because that's what's supposed to happen according to his plan. Yet it's still seen that they did the wrong thing? How can that be? They did what He planned they would do!

**sigh** forget it. these kinds of logic questions go ZIP! right over a Christian's head. they have their pat answers and that's all they need and all they want. the pat answer to this question is "free will" which, of course, is a null and void concept if their invisible super being knows everything in advance and everything has to occur exactly as their invisible super being foresees. if by an act of free will one could surprise the all knowing super being and do other than what the super being foresees then the super being is not all knowing and not perfect.
this is an obvious bit of logic for you and me but impossible for the faith chained believer to grasp.
PS. sorry Skrap. that's not what the Bible says. the Bible says that the Bible god knows before he creates a soul whether that soul is destined for heavenly rewards or destined for damnation.
Rom.8:29-30
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate.... Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
2 Tim.1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.
Jude 4
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation.

God put the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the garden because it was choice. It was a choice that Adam and Eve made to eat from the tree. Yes, it is true that God did know that they would eat from the tree, but God loves and cares for us so much that he didn't stop them because we as human beings have a free will (meaning that we have the power to chose whether we want to do something or not). God doesn't want us to serve him because he is forcing us, He wants us to serve him because we want to.

Just because you are all knowing doesn't mean you know what the future holds. I think it is presumptuous to think that God knows what is going to happen in future. If He knows the future, why bother creating man with the freedom to make a choice if you already know what he will choose. God should've go ahead and just make robots instead of making free will if He already knows what you will do.
All of the predictions that are made by God and prophets come true because God has the supernatural power to make things happen. He can destroy cities, He can restore a nation in bondage, and He can redeem your soul. However He can't predict if you will worship him or worship idol gods? No where in the bible does God possess a person and force them to do His will. He gives you a choice.
All God can do is give you a path to redemption. It's up to you to follow the path. God doesn't know if you will take that path or not. That's what free will is all about.

god knows everything, but he gives everyone a choice. for some reason he knows what you'll pick, but he gave u the opportunity. he gave the chance to live forever, though he knew they wouldn't. to be honest i can't answer that very well because i've wondered the same thing. because then it means he knows who will be a christian and who won't, etc. it's very confusing. honestly, i have to ask my pastor about this.....i've wondered why he didn't just stop at the angels. he created humans to worship him, but he also created the angels, they worship him, and have a higher likelihood of not straying from the correct path......

God foreknew that man would sin and had a plan of salvation for him.
Man was created with the ability for eternal life but man did sin and God is all knowing and knew that man would fall.
Edit
It was not God's plan for man to sin but God did foreknow that they would sin. It is God's plan to reconcile man to God through the atonement.

Free Will. I believe that God gives us the chance to make our own decisions, and that he knows the consequences of whatever choice we are going to make. It's kind of like giving a kid candy. You know they are going to take it, but you still give them the chance to say no and make their own choice. Maybe.

god did intend them to live forever, but the wages of sin is death, so my conclusion: they ate the fruit that they weren't suppose to eat so they died
