I know many people think Springsteen is great and I have no intention to disparage other people's idol but I think Springsteen is an awful singer. He's a good (not great) songwriter, shouldn't he hire a singer with a good voice to front his band. I've never owned or would pay a penny for any Springsteen music because I hate listening to him.
It's like the "Emperor's Clothes", people are crazy about this guy and he can't sing. Even Dylan fans admit he has a terrible voice but they like his style..... I don't see what people see in Springsteen, he's a New Jersey version of Huey Lewis- he ain't rock 'n roll.

I can only stand one song by him, and it's a live cover version of the song "War". He looks and sounds as though he's extremely constipated, regardless of what he's singing. His little solo bit in "We Are The World"? Constipated. Any performance I've seen or heard of (including cd) "Born To Run" (not matter how good a song it is)? Constipated.
He's written some good songs; I'll definitely give him that. However, I don't think he can sing at all.

Bruce Springsteen's political views have always been pretty much the same. I remember reading in 1987 that he refused to meet with Fawn Hall after a concert in Washington DC. For those who don't remember, she was Oliver North's secretary. He was a major figure in the Iran-contra scandal. Bruce wrote off a note telling her that he didn't like Oliver North, he didn't approve of the things she did, and that he had nothing to say to her.

Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, Bob Dylan all have crappy voices, I've heard better at karaoke bars....but, whatever they do it works for some reason!!

Springsteen is one of those "emperor wears no clothes" singers. When you really evaluate his singing: it sucks. Having said that, in his younger years, with lots of reverb, and great songwriting, "Dancing In The Dark" sounds pretty good.
Plus, some singers' voices degrade with age/tobacco use, and I think he's one, but their reputation somehow keeps them going.
Dylan has an even worse voice, but his songwriting is epic.

Hey, you're entitled to your opinion man, but I do think Bruce Springsteen's really good in the song 'Secret Garden', soundtrack from the movie 'Jerry Maguire'. Conveys the emotion and spirit of the song real well.

I saw him tonight, and his voice just keeps getting worse, and he has no stage presence. I'm from New Jersey, and always felt a sense of pride about him. Over the years though, I haven't been running out to the store to buy any of his music.

Springsteen wouldn't win an opera competition, but his voice is just right for the genre of music he sings. It's gritty and rough, but it's on pitch and matches the tone of the music he writes.

Yes he has a terrible voice, my wife thinks he is wonderful, but as a musician myself, I find his bland out of tunevoice very irritating. I particularlydread that awful version of Santa Clause is coming to town!

Springsteen has great pitch, and a very accessible rock voice,
I think he is a great song writer and his voice is perfect for his style
