If you sweat when the pain start, that is 8, you can not sit straight, at 9 you sweat and you can not lay down any more,
you must go to ER immediately to get morphine - pain killer, in the meantime waiting for tests, and surgery.
The Kidney stone, and bladder stone will cause severe pain. Sometimes, the patient can not describe the accurate spot, and the type of pain cause delay, or miss-lead the diagnosis.
You better go to a hospital and check it out. Something is wrong! Yahoo Answer can only give you some hint. the accurate diagnosis and treatment you should leave it to the
licensed medical professionals.

I know you're not supposed to lay down within an hour after eating.
I think a 7 is very bad, but not severe. (Like natural childbirth.) You can always get that fixed. Routine surgery. No one should live in pain. That's my belief, anyway.

Good luck to you. :)

no, in theory it is not , pain scoring of 0-10 is just to make discription of pain easier, just like 0 as in no pain, 1 to 4 mild pain, 5 to 7 moderate pain and 8 to 10 as in severe, but at the end of the day it is individual perception, a mild pain for me might be a severe pain for you . see your doctor.

It's difficult to judge the severity of pain, because it's based on your own perception, and unless you've had like, kidney stones, a difficult birth, or maybe been tortured, you probably have no idea what a ten feels like on a scale of one to ten. But it sounds like you probably have moderate pain, and ought to see a doctor if it doesn't get better soon or if you have other symptoms, like a fever.
