How can I get girls to be attracted to me at school if I am a shy person?

I'm 17 years old in high school and many might say I am really a nice guy...and I think I might be overly nice...
Is this a bad thing?
What are things I can talk about if I do get the chance to talk to a girl? Because often times when I am talking to one, I don't know what to say next and the conversation usually dies...

OK. What you have to do is be funny! Chilax and be smooth. But not too much cuz we girlz grow older and by high school want some guy who takes her seriously too. Don't let the convo die! Keep her talking and give her compliments. Being overly nice isn't necessarily a bad thing. But it really isn't good either. You don't want to be a push over, because that means the girl might jsut be using you. On the other hand, being extra nice is sometimes good because you want your girl to feel extra special. You just gotta time it right and let things flow. Talk about things that interest her. If you don't know what things she likes, make a little judgement for yourself. Obviously if she is an emo-punk, you might wanna talk to her about something besides pink kittens and fluffy clouds. Get me? Hope I helped! GL

Join clubs and talk about what you are doing and invite them to join you for things you both might like.
I liked a shy boy in high school but when I would say anything to him I would get one word answers and girls weren't forward back then.
Ask favors that are tiny and no real problem like if you are in a class and must miss a day ask if she will tell you what you missed. Then after the next test thank her again for the help.
Treat her like you would a male friend in some ways like asking if she wants to go to McDonald's to study after school. If she doesn't put you down too harshly invite her to a school activity like a dance or football game.

Personally I love shy guys. =] Just say hi to her in a confident voice whenever you pass by her and look at her from across the room and when she looks at you look away really fast. You can also ask what she did that weekend.
Being overly nice IS a bad thing though. Just don't offer anyone any favors that will keep you from being too nice.

talk to her about things that you know more information than other people. dont be overly nerdy but a random piece of useless information or statistics ("did you know 12 people get eaten by tomatoes every year?" ) but ummm im sure youll actually use something more believeable than that.
nice guys do finish last but so do nice girls. at least when you find someone hopefully it will be a nice girl too

ok im 18 and a freshman in college, you sound exactly the same as me in high school, the nice guy everyne likes but never has the girlfriend(no offence), just to be a bit more open, talk to everyoe and make new friends, idk who exactly the girls you are talking to and how old they are but if it wont bother you try to go down to like 15 or even 14 year old, i know they are younger but you might find one there you like, i did and now i have a pretty good relationship
