Does the US Need it? Well .. obviously it won't fall apart w/o more immigrants from Mexico or anywhere else. At least not soon.
But America's demographics says that there will be a need for more workers and that those jobs can be outsourced or imported. I believe that it would be better to have more immigration from Mexico and other Latin American countries for some jobs.
The trend for everything made in China is not very good for the US. At least Latin America is closer culturally and geographically so there can be ties that there just will not be with China or any other Asian country.
Yes I think you can argue that the US will benefit from more immigration from Mexico.
Legal immigration. There should be reform.
Edit rainyday: Honey I know the asker doesn't have an issue with you and believe me I don't. It's just a question and it is neutral.

Would you have an issue with me?
I came to this country from Mexico, I actually studied in my undergraduate degree in the US. I went back to Mexico and finished my Master's degree, then came to the US legally.
I came to this country legally I did all the proper paperwork. I am educated I put money in the system. I pay taxes. So why shouldn't I be here?
I really doubt anyone would have an issue with me coming into this country.
I can understand if you stated illegals from Mexico but people like myself who came through the proper channels should be here. We help this country and we respect its laws.
laduron7 - not all legal immigrants from Mexico come to this country to pick crops. There are many people like myself who are college educated and come to this country, to work, in corporations work in hospitals or work in universities we don't all come to this country to pick crops.

No more than our immigration policies allow. I do think that every illegal from any other country including Mexico should be deported or jailed if they've committed any additional crimes while here.

Of course we do. Legal immigration is what makes this country great. Legal immigrants work hard, integrate themselves into this culture, and add their individual and family tradition making us stronger.
Illegal immigrants, however, create a burden and unfairness to legal immigrants who work hard and integrate into US culture. Many illegal immigrants do not learn the language and draw upon social programs designed to keep them in their impoverished economic caste. This is mainly because learning the language and getting legal employment would draw attention to their illegal status.
I have a friend who is a surgeon from Mexico. He learned English and applied to come to the US legally. His brother, who is a construction worker did the same. Their family provides usefull products for the country and adds to the tax base, rather than taking from it.
In my job as a cop I see people who have been in the US for decades who require an interpreter due to their refusal to learn even basic English. They have trained professionals provided at taxpayers' expense who sign them up for government programs and services. They do not work, do not pay taxes, and stay out of the public for fear of deportation. They add nothing to this society and take from hard working citizens. Those that do work, are working at less than minimum wage for dishonest business owners. They take jobs that, if paid fairly, young adults, college students, and teenagers used to take before the immigration boom started.

more legal immigration is perfectly acceptable to me as long as it is regulated and they get the illegal situation under control.
laduron7 that is the most racist thing I've heard so you think we need slavery because the argument you just used was a number one reason used in the argument not to abolish slavery. you rebel you

Without LEGAL immigrants from Mexico, most of the agricultural sector of the U.S. economy would wither and die. Without currently ILLEGAL immigrants, the Social Security system would fail within ten years. This is because they pay into the system with their fake SS numbers, but never take any of it back out in disbursements.
So before you send all the Mexicans back home, decide which part of the U.S. economy you would like to shut down.

Legal immigration, sure, we don't NEED it but that's what America is all about, giving opportunity to those who have none.
As far as ILLEGAL Mexican immigration, it does as much harm to Mexicans who come here legally as it does to those of us born here.
Whether or not we have more Mexicans coming here legally, their ILLEGAL counterparts must be deported and further ILLEGAL immigration must be stopped.
