I hate to tell you this but there isn't a whole lot you can do to that 3.3L (or 200CU in.) straight six. That was the base engine for Ford from 1965 and up. Actually they went to a 350 Cu. In. straight six in 1969 and that may be what you have. Not that the straight six can't be improved, it can, but there just aren't many engine shops out there doing the work on them. Try searching for Clifford Automotive. I don't have their URL right now. They're a speed shop in California which specializes in Ford six cylinder speed equipment and they race the six. They claim they can get as much power from them as a 5.0 V8. I think they have a new head and run a two barrel carb on it along with bigger valves and a different cam. I drive a '68 200 cu six and while it isn't a race car it still isn't that bad. Good luck.

Well I would like to know more about the transmission you have in the car. most of the L6 motors housed a c3 transmission behind them. If that’s the case I would look at limiting your performance to under 300 Ft-lb of torque as the C3 transmission comes apart with anything more then that. the next thing I would do is get the ford performance catalog and look at the cam shafts they offer for this motor. Your limited with the options on the L6 as far at intake is concerned simply because not many aftermarket companies make 4 BBL manifolds for them. They are out there but are very limited. summit racing is a good place to start. You may also want to consider locating a ford T-bird with the supercharged V6 engine in it and putting that in your Mustang. Cost wise you will be better off, you get fuel injection, better mileage, and it has a lot more options for performance then the L6. My cousin had a 81 mustang with the L6 in it. We pulled the motor and transmission out of a 89 T-bird with the SC motor in it. Ran headers off it, rebuilt the transmission, added the electric fuel pump and off it went. Wonderful performance and emission wise it runs way cleaner. There is a performance chip upgrade that will take the motor from 210 HP to 255. Most of these cars can be found in a wrecking yard. If you can find a virgin car see if you can haggle and buy the whole thing. That way you have everything you need to make the swap. when I say virgin I mean motor, transmission, wiring harness, computer, and fuel tank are all there and not missing. It may be possible to find one in your classified adds as well that you can use. Just some helpful hints. I have also provided a link that gives you information on the SC motor. Good luck.

First off, Sell this car. Take the money and add your two grand to it then buy a V8 mustang. That is the cheapest way plus you will not get busted knuckles and a headache. Good luck
