ok so i was reading the davinci code and i was thinking if the phi stuff and divine proportion stuff is real. i thought they might have added it in there just to add it in there.

Yes it is. It is connected to the Fibonacci sequence (0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987...). Read The Golden Ratio by Mario Livio- an amazing book that is suitable for beginners.
Divine Proportion is another book on Phi with beautiful illustrations and you can buy a used copy.

Well, Brown did add it in there just to add it in there...

...but the ratio is indeed real, as well as fascinating.
