Because they work for cash, don't pay taxes, and when they don't have a job or a place to stay, YOU have to support them.

Ot's a problem in Most Developed country if not all, and seems to be a problem in alot of developed countries. Most countries are stepping up in enforcing immigration. England, Germany, France and Italy have known problems with illegal immigration. Germany has one million illegal immigrants. Italy is now trying to bulldoze shaty towns and kicking out the Romanian illegal immigrants. France is being criticize because they deport their illegal immigrants at gun point, and sometimes gag them on put them on commercial flights.
Lately South Africa are having problems because people from Zimbabwe are escaping the turmoil and heading south. Thailand is having problems with the Burmese. China has problems with illegal Pakistanis, and Russinas. Russia is having problems from the other sformer Soviet republic. Mexico themselves are having some problems with Central America. We're not unique. We might have a little more problem then other countries, because we are way too tolerant.

Because the United States is geographically located alongside a country that is unable, or unwilling, to improve their economy so that there wouldn't be so many poor people within it. If things were better in their own country they wouldn't be so anxious to jump our borders....... Illegal immigration has an overall negative effect on the U.S. economy in general. Uncontrolled immigration prevents us from controlling overpopulation. It also creates more competition for U.S. citizens when looking for a job. It also puts a strain on the budgets of U.S. social programs. It also increases the crime rate - the more people in the U.S. - the more crime. It also increases drug availability. If illegal workers find it easy to jump our borders - drug smugglers also find it easy to do so......... The only advantage to illegal entry is that it provides a source of cheap labor, which is great for Wall St............. but devastating to Main St.

The lies they (and our own press) spew as truth. They are NOT coming to work but to ROOT IN with the largest population they can achieve. Once here, they reason, no one can send them home. No one can ignore them. Everyone will be at their beck and call.

I've watched my overrun neighborhood as the majority never leave the house...all day. The guys, most of them, leave only to make a showing at the day labor sites. But won't take less than $10/hr. So they stand around till noon and saunter off.

The only ones leaving every day are the little versions going to disrupt schools their parents didn't build, didn't pay for (as they live in apartments with chronic low values (and hence, tax revenues), crowd them with as many kids as possible and use sewage, potable water, roads, etc, as if such things are inexhaustible and/or indestructible.

These people do NOT represent the real heart and soul of Latin America but are an anomaly of cheap global food supplies made possible by modern farming techniques, medicine, etc, to which they contribute little if any at all.

Personally illegal immigration is such a huge problem I doubt anyone could quantify it.

Because we are supposedly,a nation of law abiding citizens;the word illegal cuts to the quick. Other than the native americans,we are all immigrants;who have played by the rules,in order to establish our citizenship....There is a strong resentment on the part of those, whose ancestors struggled valiantly,to see this new wave of immigrants, break laws as a premise and path to citizenship. We are constantly reminded,by the llegislative, judicial and executive branches,of the "rule of law"....So again, while we punish our own fellow americans for trangressions against that rule; the average citizen finds breaking that rule by non-citizens,as akin to hypocracy. America accepts more foreign nationals, that apply legally for citizenship; than any other counrty in the world. But to assume that, law breakers;who flee there own country due to economic hardships, should be welcomed with open arms;by taxpaying, law abiding citizens of a neighboring country is most unreasonable.. Can or should, the citzens of this country;suffering in poverty, break laws by crossing into canada or mexico ? And should these deserters expect others, to greet them with open arms, for having broken laws to enter these countries illegally? Poverty is no excuse for illegality. Why should those, who "play by the rules",give a "get out of jail card" to these immigrants...and say to them;now that you are citizens,we know you with comply with all laws of your new homeland, evn though you broke our laws to come here.. Arguements have been made about all the contributions these new americans will make...But let the first contribution be,respect for the people, who living in harmony, have made this country what it is. Lawmakers, often refer to the election process,as voting with your feet.To many of our neighbors to the south, that terminology is sadly misinterpreted;to mean trampling across international borders. To reach new, greener pastures, free of the corruption of their native lands...My thoughts of the "foot voters are these. (1) Leaving your own native land,to defend it from others that would deny us our way of life. and (2) going to the poles to practice the plebicite, that our constitution provides for legitimate citizens.. We as a nation, will gladly accept any and all ;who are willing to play by our rules. Simplistically, two wrongs do not make a right.Too many citizens have sacrificed there very lives to preserve our"way of life",such as it is.Some call our system, "the envy of the world" But i have my doubts, that it would remain as such;if our borders were manned with outposts, where forged documents were exchanged for the prized articles of citizenship. As some religious leaders have said,we should hate the sin,but love the sinner.I say this,we should hate the illegals, but love the immigrants. If the national of Mexico, will not allow foreign nationals to hold citizenship;why should the mexican people expect us to threat their refugees any diffently. After all, those in their country have been well as legal visitors. While the same cannot be said ,for the hordes who cross our frontiers;assuming it a right, not a privilege.

It is a problem because we allow it. Not we the people per se but we the political elite who offer inducements to come here.

Our Supreme Court has interpreted the Constitution to mean illegals get a free education at taxpayer expense and school officials have to look the other way and cannot report them.

Our politicos have determined that the offspring of illegals are automatically citizens despite what the 14th amendment really says. That entitles them to a host of taxpayer funded benefits including sponsoring the parents for citizenship.

Sanctuary cities. Despite being against Federal Laws, some cities have declared themselves sanctuary for illegal aliens.

In short we pass a law that says it is illegal for them to come and then pass laws and enact policies that encourage them to stay.

The American people want them out and the elected officials want them to stay and vote for them

Illegal immigration is a problem because minimum wage is not increasing because illegals are being employed for low wages and those who are not employed are resorting to criminal acts such as kidnapping for ransom and drug dealing.

We cannot maintain any social programs when they extend to every living person which can reach the United States.

We cannot maintain a system of government which represents the people when the people are citizens of other countries.

We cannot maintain our way of life when to the rest of the world we exist as the wilderness where criminals can escape to or be exiled to.

We cannot maintain and develop our infrastructure to meet the needs of the people with out accurate projection of developing needs and regulation of imported needs.

Its easy to get in, The Government system is corrupted and aren't going to take care of till the last minute and there is opportunities here, but if they keep coming in and multiplying at the rate they are now, There wont be many more opportunities anymore

Because we have not elected any government officials with a backbone for twenty or so years who are willing to fully fund the enforcement arm of our immigration laws. It is not conducive to a long government career to stand up for enforcement of immigration laws and border security. Job security over National security.
