How does the camera crew follow Bear Grylls and why does the show seem to only credit him for doing all the extreme stuff, when the camera crew actually has to go through it too?

Yep big stupid fake jerk! Check these out! These videos prove it without a doubt. What an ******! I know it is TV and it is just for ratings, but he really tries to come off as a stud survivalist but he is never in any real danger, ever! They should at least put a comment on before the show to tell the somewhat gullible TV public that this show is really for entertainment only and Bear is never in any real danger. He is a douche bag.

I can picture the entire crew of producers and cameramen, busting through the brush in a souped-up 4x4, tossing protein bars to Bear Grylls as he sprints through the woods taking unnecessary risks...

Yes, to answer your question. Big phony.

But the Hollywood-esque spin on wilderness survival by the star of this fraudulent show is not the biggest problem here. I am most troubled by the possibility that some viewers look to him as a survival expert and think that he is accurately modeling how to act in a survival situation.

Nevermind that he has been, and continues to be, investigated by a British TV station that reported he spent the night in motels when he claimed to be outside, and that he was sneaking food from the crew when he was allegedly rooting around for nuts and berries. Nevermind that he unnecessarily kills animals for a television show.

Most of what he does (dashing around in the woods, running down steep grades at breakneck speed, climbing trees, jumping off waterfalls, diving into cold rivers and streams, etc.) would, in a true survival situation, make a bad situation worse by unnecessarily jeapordizing anyone unlucky enough to find himself or herself in such a situation. How many people will get into further trouble after finding themselves in a tight spot and then modeling Grylls' behavior? Nothing like a broken leg or hypothermia to compound your problems while lost in the wild...

Sorry for the rant, but this TV show really bothers me. Pure entertainment cloaked in the guise of instructional programming.

Bear severd with the British Special Forces. He has military survival training. When he goes to the different locations, he has local experts teach him how to survive before he goes out on his own with the camera man. Becuse he's the "host' of the show, he's the one that's credited. As for the film crew,
it's their job, that's why you don't see their names. Either way, to do what Bear does, or the film crew, it takes guts, and courage. Except for the episode when he was in Hawaii, being born and raised there, I know how to survive either in the mountains, or on the coast line. It could be a life and death situation if you don't know how to survive in a specific
environment. It also helps a lot if you went camping as a kid and learned from family members how to survive in the wild.
Another thing, Don't panic, or freak out. You make stupid mistakes, and that's how you die.

I believe they have ways to contact people if an emergency occurs.I would assume the camera crew carries food and shelter for themselves based on the locations. It wouldn't be very sporting if Bear had to pick up the slack for all of them.I highly doubt alter things to make them look more dangerous.I remember one time bear had to swim through and underwater tunnel or something and the crew (or at least a cameraman) swam right behind him.The tunnel led to a dead end and Bear turned around very suddenly and started pointing back with a frantic look.

I also tend to think the camera crew has extra commodities that Bear isn't given. However they really should be accredited for their bravery with some of the circumstances they have to overcome. I haven't heard anything in the news about this show like someone said, but I've watched about 3-4 episodes and was very impressed with the things I saw him do. Even if it is fake, it's fascinating and educational. I've learned a lot from the show, even if I'll never use the information, it's great to watch!

I prefer the show Survivorman with Les Stroud. It seems to be a bit more realistic. He is out there alone and filming himself, he uses 2 or 3 different cameras that he hauls with him. You can see the cameras in some of the scenes, and the things he has rigged up to take pictures of himself.

Actually, he never said he'd live in the wild, he said he'd show you how to survive in the wild. Not the same thing.

This is a problem of people not listening to what he said and expecting they were watching Les Stroud who is alone and does survive (or not in most recent shows) on his own resources.

But Les Stroud doesn't drink from elephant dung or filter his own pee to drink. He takes risks that a man alone in the wild could not, and he's always clear that the crew is there filming him.

In later episodes he is careful to make it clear that he's not sleeping in that shelter he just made.

Regardless of it not being what some people were expecting, Bear Grils is still super hardcore

Im pretty sure that the crew has food and extra clothes and everything, but that guy is still tough as nails. I saw an episode where he bit the head off a snake. fake or not, that takes some serious guts.

everybody right here is going to assert Les. As will I. i'm getting excitement from Les in a feeling with the aid of fact he is going accessible on his very own. specific his group is an hour away and he's had to be extracted or in spite of you prefer to call it a pair circumstances. Like while he grew to become into in Labrador. yet while his very own group virtually have been given killed there i might think of its time to tug out. undergo ought to kick my *** and the two are survivalsits yet undergo has a set and besides the fact that they are not meant to help him except that is existence threatening i understand the memories the place he might do something and than pass to a motel for the night. i might say the two have honest factors yet which one os greater sensible? i'm no longer a survivalist. I examine books and understand issues approximately construction safeguard, installation a fire and the thank you to maintain it going, looking water (yet I found out that from a guy who grew to become into in a concentration camp for the period of the korean war), and a few foodstuff procurment. yet I surely have in no way placed it into prepare. i might desire a committed barren area survival direction. that is appealing yet i choose something for my geographic area. no longer forests, jungles, and frozen hellholes.

Yes it's a phony show. It's a reenactment not actual life. If it were real life chances are the "survivor" could give a crap to record it. You have to give the man some credit he is eating live animals and jumping into sub-zero water.
