Someone told me that my company's supposed to send me a copy of W2 form by the end of Nov, 07. So, does that mean I can file 2007 income tax on the very next day?

Someone is incorrect.

your employer is supposed to have your w2 to you by the end of January. They can't send it to you by the end of november because you haven't worked the whole year yet.

and yes, you can file the very next day, assuming of course that you don't have any interest income, or interest expenses being sent to you by the bank or your mortgage lender.

You could file a paper return on Jan 2, 2008 (The Post Office is closed on the first) if you have all of the proper documents. Your company very well may supply you your W-2 in December if they pay once a month and the next pay period comes in January. If you wish to file an electronic return the IRS will not except them until January 11th, 2008. If you have other sources of income it is not likely that the documents reporting that income will come before the end of January.

If you have your W2 by the end of December, and this is your only income, then you can fill out your tax as soon as you get your W-1. However you cannot e-file it before about January 15, so your only option in the first half of January would be to mail your return, to reach the IRS at any time after January 1.

If you mail your return you will delay any refund. The quickest way to get your refund is to have your return ready, and when the IRS begins to accept e-filed returns, send it off. You will get your refund around the end of January.

Most individual taxpayers have a year end of December 31st. If you get your tax information from all income sources by then, by all means you can prepare your taxes and file soon after New Year's.

However, keep in mind that employers do have until January 31st to send W-2's to their employees, so it might not be there until Feb 1 or even a little after that.

I hope that helps.

Companies have until the end of JANUARY 2008 to mail or give you your W-2 for 2007. Some companies get them ut sooner in January. You can file as soon as you have all of your paperwork.
