When he joined he was in admin and got deployed to Iraq , 4yrs later he is doing military postal and is in Iraq for the 2nd time.. it does not matter what job you decide to take , at some point you will be deployed , maybe not to Iraq per say but it can be to germany , japan , korea , any one of those places plus more that I didn't list.

There are some jobs in the Reserves that are non-deployable, but not many. I had a job that was non-deployable when I was in the Air National Guard. But, if the need arises, they can (and will) reassign and deploy you. Sorry, but administrative personnel are sent to war zones. Pretty much, if they need you here, they need you there.
Think about it this way; If you don't want to go to war, don't join the Military. There are other ways to make a living and get benefits.

When you join the military YOU are a Soldier, Marine, Sailor, Airman first and foremost, Your job is the specific mission of each branch of the military.
Your MOS/rating/job series is secondary! (admin, computer, medical, etc...)
If your unit has orders to deploy, then youmove with your unit!
Benefits with the reserves varies from state to state.

If you are too much of a pu##y to be willing to fight, don't join the military. The others you would be working with may have to trust you not to run and hide. If you are looking for govt benefits, go work for the US Post Office. But don't let a dog scare you from a mail delivery either. OMG are we producing a nation of candy a##es

Yes to the Army everyone is a soldier first. If you want to avoid deployment, have good benfits, and a good job look into DoD Civilian employment.
