I have 134000 miles. i bought Valvoline Max life for transmissions over 75000 miles, Dex/Merc. On the back is says that it's recommended for vehicles requiring mercon V, Dexron III/Mercon fluids. Is this ok for my suv.

Dexron III is not the correct fluid for your jeep. What you need is chrysler part# 5013457aa $8.08 per quart this is chryslers own fluid it is call atf +4 and as far as I know it is only available at a dealership. If you have put dexron III in that could cause some major issues with your tranny.

The grand cherokees are a funds pit. they're infamous for having undesirable transmissions. Dont worry getting a clean trans as this is going to in basic terms destroy lower back.look into advertising it for a greater sturdy vehicle.

Only if it needs fluid
check by rulling dipstick while engine is hot and STILL RUNNING
don't overfill and dont change fluid something that old might fall apart. you can add if it is down a pint or more.DON'T OVERFILL OR YOU WILL BLOW YOUR SEALS.

use only jeep authorized trans fluid. See your jeep dealer for it. Not all trans fluid is compatabile and not all transmissions use trans fluid. Some use motor oil and others use gear oil.
