I don't think they look bad, but just as a warning, armband tats are kind of an unofficial lesbian symbol. A lot of people might assume you are one if you get an armband, whether you are or not.
If you are open-minded enough not to care about that, go for it. Make sure it's a pattern you like, and don't get it too high up your arm. (I've heard the under/in side of the arm up that high is quite painful for tats.)

Arm bands not my thing. The bigger the better. I loooove sleeves...I'm planning on a 3/4 sleeve.

Only around a wrist for a girl, on the bicep it looks masculine and ugly, no matter what.

I personally think that armbands on women are extremely tacky.
