This is a serious question for Christians. I do not want any negative remarks from Atheists or others who oppose Christianity. I will make every effort to report anyone who is blasphemous!

So why do you nick-pick? You say "I believe to have Faith in God", but then you disregard the scriptures that say to Tithe?

I read one that said "tithing is not required under the new covenant...WHAT??? Are you kidding me?? Just a short note:

Jesus came in the flesh to "reveal" the Father. He showed that God's law would be in force until heaven and earth pass away (Matthew 5:18) Christ didn't come to destroy God's law, but to FULFILL it (verse 17) Fulfill means to do or perform, not to DO AWAY WITH!! What did Jesus say to the young man that asked Him how to be saved? He said, "Keep the commandments!!" (Matthew 19:17) What part of the Bible are the Ten Commandments in ? Uh-huh... So is this person saying that we don't have to keep them because they're in the OT, ,that it's OK to kill or lust over your neighbor's wife? I don't think so..

We are commanded to live by EVERY WORD of the true God as revealed by Jesus Christ in the New AND Old Testament..

The Bible is a collection of scripture made of several books.
Some are history, laws, myth, fiction, songs & poems.
They accumulated over a 2000 year period, 2000 years ago.
They're written, copied, & edited by many different people.
If you picked up a newspaper, would you read every page?
Would you interpret every column & article the same way?
In biblical times, taxes went to the occupying government.
Tithing went to the Temple to support widows & orphans.
We pay much higher rates today for our social programs.

Good question, and one that I'm happy to help with. I should start by saying that I consider myself a Christian, however I do not take everything in the Bible as fact. This is for many reasons. First, though the Bible may have been Divinely inspired, it was still written down by the hands of imperfect humans. Also, it was written in a way that was very specific to the Hebrews, tailored to their political systems, geography, and customs. Also, when the Bible itself was actually compiled, many things were left out (the Apocrypha). In some cases, things are thought to have been rewritten entirely (all references to eternal damnation being a very good, albeit very controversial, example of this, according to some scholars). Adding to the confusion are translation errors. These errors are due to a few different reasons. First, Hebrew is a very different language than English, and in some cases there are simply not ways to directly translate the text, leaving it at the disgression of the translator to try to convey the main idea (again, another example of an imperfect human left in charge of delivering the word of the Divine). Another factor is the mere intelligence of the translator (another good, yet controversial example is witchcraft in the Bible. A selection of different things that were not well understood during early translations were translated to "witchcraft' for the sake of simplicity). Another point to consider is the extensive use of metaphor and parable that's included in the Bible, leaving many things to interprettation as to their level of literal meaning. Add to all of this what others have said, that oral traditions leave much of this information in the hands of an enormous game of telephone, and I think you understand what I'm trying to get at. I hope this helps! And may God be with you on your path to understanding!

Tithing was an old covenant requirement, but tithing is not required under the new covenant.

The new covenant totally replaced the old covenant ... with a better and saving covenant based on the grace and perfect atonement of Jesus Christ ... and not on any part of the old law ... which Jesus perfectly fulfilled and set aside.

Read your bible more carefully, and you'll soon see the truth.

i've got faith the completed Bible is real, yet i don't have faith that actuality potential that all of the events could have got here approximately precisely the way the Bible says they did. there are a number of distinctive language approaches that the writers used to precise themselves: Metaphor, allegory, simile, hyperbole, phenomenological language, anthropomorphism, etc. it may no longer all be taken actually, via fact no longer all of it replaced into ever meant to be taken actually. As for people who say which you the two take the completed Bible metaphorically or actually, that's actually fake. Even people who take the "finished" Bible actually do no longer say the parables and hyperbolic language opt for be taken actually, applicable? My rule of thumb is, if human beings continuously took a factor as being literal, it replaced into in all probability meant that way. If it replaced into continuously taken as metaphor or allegory, I take it that way. yet, I additionally take Saint Augustine's suggestion to heart, wherein he pronounced that if our interpretation of Scripture does not tournament as much as what's general with regard to the organic international, it is our interpretation that's in blunders, via fact God does not lie, and He does not without postpone lie to human beings. the only *theory* necessary to truly be a Christian is to have faith in God, Jesus Christ as our salvation, and the Holy Spirit. Believing the creation account (for an occasion) isn't a prerequisite to being a Christian.

i think it's a joke....before it was written down it was passed by word of mouth.....one gigantic game of telephone and if you remember playing that game as a kid what is heard at the end was never what was said at the beginning. i think its false and over exaggerated....jesus was nothing more then a simple human being not a god or anything amazing...just a man.
