Wow, I am amazed at the answers you've been getting ... from people who have NO idea about dentistry.

I just had my 1st root canal... no pain... no pain at ALL ! Now, it usually hurts before they do it... as you are numb when they do it and the blood supply of the tooth is gone now. There is a possibility that they thought this was the tooth that needed a root canal and it might be the one next to it... maybe both teeth need one.

Why did you need a root canal ? Abscess ? Decay into the nerve ? How long ago was it done ? Take some Motrin/Advil ( anti-inflammatory ) and see if it goes away. If it still hurts as bad as before, call the guy who did it.

sometimes there is some soreness from having your mouth open for that long but since a root canal destroys the nerve to that tooth it really shouldn't hurt. sometimes the dentist does the root canal on the wrong tooth because the patient thinks one tooth is hurting but it is actually an adjacent tooth. My dentist said you can tell if a tooth needs a root canal if it is sensitive to both heat and cold

it depends how long after you've had the root canal that you are having pain, and how bad the pain is. either way, you should just call the doctor that performed the root canal, and let them know that you have pain. It could be that the decay couldn't be fixed with a root canal, and they might have to extract the tooth. but hopefully not :)

Well, there could be a couple reasons....If you just had the root canal done, then it can be sensitive for a little while after that. Or, it could be the root canal failed.

I would call your dentist and they will probably tell you to come in to double check...

MARIO,
YOU ARE NOT ALONE. SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT HAD ROOT CANALS EXPERIENCE DISCOMFORT.
ANY TIME A ROOT CANAL IS DONE THE NERVE IS REMOVED AND PATENCY TO THE TIP OF THE TOOTH MUST BE DONE. THIS LATER PROCEDURE SOMETIMES CAUSES POST-OP SENSITIVITY. THIS CAN LAST FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BUT SHOULD DECREASE DAILY.
IF IT GETS WORSE A DENTIST SHOULD BE CONSULTED.

No it isn't just you, root canals hurt, give it a day or two and you should feel better.

Call your dentist. A root canal removes the nerve for the tooth so there should be no pain.

Yea, pretty much. Your root canal doesn't hurt anyone else.
