Ok...This is just for opinions really. My son is 3 years old, and sleeping in a twin bed. I am getting a king size bed to replace my queen size bed. I was gonna give his twin bed to his sister and let him have the queen bed. I just dont wanna throw it out or give it away. Surely if he can sleep in a twin, he can sleep in a queen. I just don't want him to be freaked out by the size. Then again he may love it! He loves to jump on it. Anyways, Thanks for your opinions:)

HIs room is fairly big! He has a twin bed and a race car toddler bed he used to sleep in and a room full of toys. That is why I thought about giving it to him already instead of storing it away in his sisters room, because her room is smaller. Thanks for the advice:)

Oh yes! We definitely do NOT allow the jumping on the bed. I guess I should have said that.

why not?

my daughter sleeps in our old queen size bed, and has been doing so for years, probably since she was 3. it's a great bed for all of us to sit on and read books together before bed, and it fits a lot of stuffed animals, lol.

Of course! My son has been sleeping in a queen size bed since he was 1 (actually since he was practically born - when he stopped sleeping in his bassinett, he slept with us). He loves it. I actually just have the mattress on the floor so if he falls off, he doesn't get hurt. He's 2 now (will be 2 1/2 at the end of December) and he loves it! I bet your son will love it! I found cute sheets and comforter (although to be honest, there isn't too many choices with a queen - cute kid themes mostly go up to full) and put some stuffed animals on it and pushed the mattress to one side of the room so he is cozy. :) Best of luck! Oh, and jumping if it's on the floor is fun and safer!

The only issue I foresee you having would be that the kids character sheets do not come in queen size only twin and full. So if he uses them you may have some diffuculty.

Besides this I think the child will have a great time.

If he thinks it is too big he will subconciously move toys, pillows, etc to limit the size so that it feels more comfortable to him.

However, he will probably love the bigger bed -- especially if you will lie down next to him occasionally at night and read him a book.

As to jumping on the bed, that really is a no-no. He can easily fall into something or off the bed. You should discourage this.

What really depends here is his safety. How high up is it? Because most children under 5 toss and turn all night till they get to the end and when he does you don't want him falling so far that he breaks something.if you do give it to him make sure its not high up. Other than that I'm pretty sure any 3 year old boy would love a large bed.

It should be fine and he will have lots of room to roll around so less chance of falling out.
My daughter was in a full size bed at 1 1/2.

I think it depends more on the use of the bed/the condition of the mattress. Also the size of his room. The twin leaves him more room to play, plus you may never find fun kid sheets in the queen.

If you have the space and he doesn't get scared by it, why not? You're going to have a heck of a time finding cutesy character linens for a queen size bed though. Just don't forget to put up guard rails on both sides so he doesn't fall out!

my opinion for you is its great my daughter is now 5 but when she was three i had her sleeping in a queen size bed only because in her day bed she tossed and tuned all over and i was worried she was going to roll off she sleeps crazy but the bigger bed is awesome and i think he will enjoy it so good job for not throwing it out and putting it to good use.

I think he would love it! My son is all about sleeping in our queen sized be whenever he can. He can squirm, kick, and flop around all he wants. I don't see it as an issue.
