Why don't you ponder this.........ROMANS 1:21-27: "…although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man -- and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator…. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-10: "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor HOMOSEXUALS, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God."
Men and women are not animals. Animals do not marry, they are not under judgment, and have no potential to enter the Family of God to live forever therein. Human men and women, however, were created for that very reason. God is the One who created the institutions of human marriage and the family. Human marriage and family life are the very ‘type’ of the coming marriage of the Father’s Son, Jesus Christ, to His bride—which presently is comprised of humans in the Church of God. Human marriage includes the close, intimate relationship between a man and a woman…two similar—yet very different—genders made in God’s image. This intimate relationship is allowed by God ONLY within the marriage relationship, and ONLY between a married man and woman… because of what it is all picturing and foreshadowing in God’s plan and creation.

Certainly homosexual behavior has been a part of human sexuality going back to antiquity. Ancient civilizations in the Mediterranean area, Middle East and the American Continent are known to have often been tolerant and even accomodating of homosexual behavior (Greeks, Sumerian, and the "Canaanites" of the Old Testament, many Native American Tribes had their "two-spirits," the "witch doctors," "healers," and "spiritual leaders" of the tribe), even having "sacred male prostitutes" for men and women in the temples of some societies.
I'm not certain that we can say that 10% of the population was "gay," since not until the past 100 years or so has the idea of homosexuality as an "orientation" as opposed to being just "behavior" even been in the social consciousness. It was just seen as behavior that could be controlled and was a choice. (Many use this contention today to continue to persecute people of different orientations. Science has proven that homosexuality is much more than behavior, and is a core trait that goes to the center of a person's personality, dealing with the individual's ability to love, be loved and accept themselves as an individual.)
One person stated that Kinsey's report was based on prisoners and those in the "tenderloin district." This is something that goes against everything that I have read about the study. "Kinsey's study sample was made up almost exclusively of white, middle-class, college-educated Americans under age 35." That has been a bone of contention with conservatives, that the study was not more well-rounded in its study sample, but it must be noted that this study was conducted in the 1940's. Most people would not have been open in discussing the most basic of questions about sexuality, let alone the types of information that were gathered by this study.
Also, a later study, the Janus Report, reported that 22% of men and 17% of women questioned in this study had stated that they had had homosexual experiences. In the same study, respondents were asked to self-identify their sexual orientation as Heterosexual, Homosexual and Bisexual. The total of self-identified Bisexual and Homosexual Men was 9%, the percentage of women was 5%. One might suggest that, if anything, that number may be too conservative, since people are more likely to identify themselves as heterosexual when they are indeed bisexual or homosexual, than vice versa.
I have seen some studies that indicate the percentage of homosexuality is at most 3-4% of the population, and others indicate that it is more like 7-10%. There is no certainty regarding these figures. It seems that those studies that include those who self-identify as homosexual, primarily homosexual and bisexual come very close to the "mythical" number of 10%.
For those interested in Biblical scholarship on the topic of homosexual behavior, there are several good books. One is "What the Bible Really Says About Homosexuality (Millenium Edition)" by Daniel A. Helminiak, Ph.D. This is an excellent primer on the issue, taking much of the scholarly research over the past 50 years or so and brings them together for the lay person. Another is "The Church and the Homosexual" by John J. McNeill. Both books have good resources to other books on the subject. Any one interested in what the Bible writers really meant regarding homosexuality, whether gay or straight, would benefit by reading these and other books.

I'm a Christian and I don't believe homosexuality is a sin.
Where are you getting your statistics? "Most" Christians think people choose to be gay? Where is "most" coming from?
You sound very uneducated. Being Christian simply means that you accept that Christ died for your sins and rose from the dead and is your ultimate savior. How a Christian interprets the Bible-- or rather, chooses which denomination to follow based on how they interpret the Bible-- is something else entirely.
Your picking one controversial subject and applying it to "all" Christians is no better than a very conservative Evangelical picking one line about not "spilling seed on the ground" and using it to condemn masturbation. It's just ignorant. Christ had NOTHING to say about homosexuality, and I think if this were an important subject, He would have. Now, go and ponder.

statistically 100% of people have done one of the following: lied, cheated, lusted, hated etc.
the statistic has remained constant throughout the years. Now the question is: If being sinful is a choice and a life-style, is it not too much of a coincidence that the world population has constantly been sinful? Go and ponder.
Homosexuality is just one way in which man disobeys God, the 10% merely refers to the fraction of people who chose to disobey God in this way.
it doesn't make it right, it doesn't mean that people are born that way. the fact is all have sinned, in all different ways. THAT is how we are born, that is not our choice. Fortunately God has given us a choice as to whether we would like to change that, and He offers us this through His Son Jesus.

The actual figure is closer to 3 per cent. Many Christians, along with many other people, believe all kinds of things that aren't true. Some think that the Earth is only 6,000 years old, which is a real problem for the people that lived 30,000 years ago and made the cave paintings in Europe, or the 50,000 year history of the Aboriginal Tribes of Australia.

First of all, where in the name of the great blue holy heavens with all their stars and stripes forever did you get that statistic? I'd love to see you back it up...I bet you can't.
Gays have always been around. It's not a choice; it's the way you're born. If you want to spout that kind of nonsense, the only way to explain it to you is that God screwed up. He made a mistake. He's wrong. He's not perfect. He's incompetent...or maybe he was just in a bad mood that day.
The type of nonsense you have posted in the guise of statistical fact, and the willful duplicity, is borderline hate speak.

I could write a book, and someday I may, entitled "Facts the Whole World Knows That Just Aren't True."
That 10% figure is an urban legend that should have been put to rest a long time ago.
The 10% figure came from Kinsey's study, in which 10% of respondents reported being exclusively homosexual for three years or more.
. A large portion of Kinsey's sample came from prison (duh) and a large portion from the tenderloin district, where men went to find prostitutes, female and male (double duh).
There is no justification for extrapolating from Kinsey's sample to this country as a whole, let alone other countries in other eras. We simply don't know what the proportion of homosexuals was in, say, 17th-century France or 3rd-millenium BC Sumer.
If I'm wrong, show me the data. Don't just say, "It's a fact the whole world knows."

Religious nuts of all persuasions have no trouble believing in things that are illogical and nonsensical. Anything to do with sex, especially, drives them off the deep end. Especially homosexuality or anything not straight-arrow. Go and ponder.

Your information is wrong.
The real numbers are closer to 2%.
And regardless of the percentage, engaging in homosexual activity remains objectively a seriously disordered, mortally sinful behavior, that cannot be justified.
Having homosexual inclinations is not a sin.
Acting on them is.

And 50% of marriages end up in divorce. I guess marriage is not an institution from God. And 100% sin. I guess we are not even supposed to try to go good. Numbers don't make something ok. If that were the case, we could justify anything.
