There is a wonderful story in the bible where Jesus is watching the people put money in the collection at the temple.

Middle class types put in their money equivalent to $10 and then $20.

Then rich men were putting in a lot like $500 or more.

Then along came an old widow woman who put in 1 coin which is equivalent to 1/2 a penny.

Jesus spoke up suddenly and drew attention to this woman and said "Look at that woman, she gave more than all the others. Because the others gave out of their abundance but she gave out of her poverty."

Notice how the heart is what God sees. God is richer than all he doesn't need our junk or dollars etc.. You can tell where someones heart is by how much they give.

It is not the amount it is the heart.

Not sure what your question is? God doesn't want your money. He doesn't want anything from you if you aren't a cheerful giver. He supplies all of your needs in His way, through others.
As to spending it, He uses me to help others. If I have too many roses, I simply cut them and give them away. I get more by the pruning. If I have two of something how nice it is to share one with someone who has none. That person may have prayed a moment before for that very thing. God is such a mystery and such a giver, that He never takes. He has us to give and us to share and we should be delighted to do so. I have never been asked to do anything that God and I didn't do together.
But, I think you are just thinking, not really wanting to believe in a God who gives His All for all of us. That is OK, He doesn't stop loving us in all of us silly ways.
When someone helps you, pass it on.

I think peoples' opinions sometimes depends on the churchs they go. Some churchs are money hungry but not all churchs. If you really want to know what your tithes are going towards ask the bishop or the pastor of the church.

For where I go the money goes towards the building fund, paying for the church, buying supplies for the church, supplies for fundraisers (bake sale, car wash, etc) which was going to the youth ministry, to help with transportation, when quite a few from the chruch travel to other churches and all.

Also, we have to remember your suppose to paying it unto God not unto man. Now, if man interfers with that and decide to take the money and shove it in their pockets(not all but some do) they are they ones who would have to deal with that when it comes time for judgement day. So a soweth so shall he reapth.

Howdy!!! Darth,

God is not the one that really needs the money. It is Gods churches and his people here on Earth that needs it. The reason why is so Gods people can pass the message on to others. God has no need of money his self because he has power over everything. Money to God himself is just a piece of paper or metal, Where God is he does not need money.

So Long for Now, and May God Bless,
Bulldog

The reality is that God wants you to give 10% of your increase (first fruits) as one of the ways you show you trust Him and so that He can then give you even more! The fact that so many people have responded to this question in this short of time is a simple showing how important money is to people. God wants you to trust Him. Will you trust Him by giving Him 10% of your money?

Read Malichi 3:8 to see what God says about giving to Him.

God doesn't want any money from you...what He wants is His to begin with...without Him, there would be nothing...so when He says to tithe 10%, He's not asking for much and it's ALL His to begin with...if you think i'm wrong, just keep living like God owes YOU something and see what happens...some get away with that kind of thinking, but it will all catch up with them sooner or later...i for one, don't want to take that chance...i KNOW God is my supplier for everything...and am very thankful for all the blessings i've received...

It is because God is the rightful owner of your money... in the end he has entrusted you as a steward of it. He has blessed you with the ability to earn an income... I say all of this nicely, not in a fanatical tone.

We tithe money to the Lord because it is rightfully His; the money is used to further the Lord's work - feeding the homeless, helping the disabled, helping a church pay its bills... things of such a nature.

God created us as free moral agents, He won't violate our free will - that is why He asks us to be cheerful givers. Take care. Have a great day!

God doesn't want your money - He wants you! It's the charlatans (television evanglists, etc.) who want your money.

God just wants your attitude toward money to be:
1. willingness to give it to a cause that He convinces you to support -- not some guilt driven, or greed driven reason caused by some "get rich quick" television preacher.
2. you know that He supplies all your needs no matter what you level of income;
3. your money has nothing to do with your spiritual condition -- Jesus had no where to lay his head; the Apostle Paul had to work as a tent maker and was often beaten and left for dead; crooks abound who are filthy rich.
4. you are just to be a steward of His money that you hold for a few years that you live.

What in the world are you talking about. God doesnt care about your money. Churches may care about money. Many do great things for people with the money they receive. I think your missing the point on what God wants for you. Good Luck.

If everyone followed the laws of tithing as demanded in the bible 10% of your firstfruits; there would be no poverty in the world; its God asking you to give your part for the less fortunate. He doesn't need the money; he wants us to help each other out to distribute it equitable; in return for obedience he will reward you back more than you can ever dream; but he wants this to be done with a good attitude.
