I have one Monster HDMI cable i have hooked up but i get no audio when i try and play dvd's. any ideas????

An HDMI cable alone should be fine. Make sure in your DVD menu that you choose to output sound over HDMI (it probably defaults to something else).

Check if the TV speakers are off.

Check if the HDMI cable is defective.

Check if the TV speakers are blown

That's because the HDMI cable only carries a video signal. You need to cable the audio out from the PS3 to your surround system. On the PS3 you'll have audio output the jacks are red and white, use an RCA cable to an available audio input on the amp.

Insert a HD disk and go to the sound setup menu. Make sure you have selected the DD 5.1 track.

It's possible your player is picking some track your TV cannot understand.
