I really don't worry about who hates me. When I start doing that then I am dwelling in the hatred and all my joy and happiness leave.
This really is not new though. Mormons have been under scrutiny since the beginning. At least now we aren't chased from our homes in the dead of winter with just the clothes on our backs.
Also I have been participating in this forum long enough to know that it is not just the Mormons- it is every religious and non religious group that is trashed on here. The JW's, Masons, Catholics and Atheists get a lot of flack on here as well.
I really would not waste another minute worrying about it.

Catholics don't "hate" others. It's against our religion. And there is nothing wrong with the pope. People think us Catholics worship the pope like he's God but thats false. We respect him as he teaches those about our beliefs.

People fear what the don't know, or understand. There are so many false things out there about the church, and people will believe anything anyone tells them, especially if it is a leader of some kind. Some religions even have a class on why Mormonism is false, and how Joseph Smith was a liar. Does that sound like Christ-like love to you? It doesn't to me.
All I can say is I really think people are more afraid to find out about the church, for fear of what was told to them is a lie, or only partially true. They don't want to take the time to find out for themselves if what they hear is true. No matter what the church does that is good, there will always be someone out there that finds one little thing to pick at, or will take the good and twist it to what they want it to be.

People hate what they don't understand.
People do not know what the Mormons believe. I feel your pain. I get criticized as a Catholic because so many Protestants have heard and believe lies and misconceptions. I remember as a child (raised Pentecostal) how I was told how evil and wrong and crazy Mormons were. Then I grew up and looked into it and met some for myself and realized how wrong those people had been.
I will say I disagree with some of the Mormon teachings, but it doesn't really matter as long as you are based on the love and teaching of Christ.
When some one starts to criticize you, politely ask them if they know what you believe and if they would like to know or if they would like you to clear up any misconceptions.

Fear may be a big reason some people are petty. We tend to fear the unknown, like what's down in the dark basement, what people be don't know believe in, the "foreigners who live two houses down the street, etc.
However, you you got to know your basement, your neighbors, etc you may learn that they have a lot of good to offer.

I've given up trying to understand any form of hatred. As long as I am a good person, and I know what is in my heart - it does not matter what others think of me or my faith.

Because it's hilarious! Now I don't hate you, but I'm entitled to giggle a bit at your religion. I think the Pope is pretty funny too, but not as funny. But it's really not important to me, I have to say Mormonism rarely crosses my mind, you just brought it to my attention.
