I'm 13 & have been bulimic since I was 11
its not a constant thing but I've been through about 3-4 times that I threw up everything
I haven't ever told anyone I was bulimic except my best friend & I don't think she believed me
I don't want help
but I know that I need it
last year I told my mom I cut myself and she was very understanding
so I don't think she would be mad
I've been suffering from depression for a little over a year now
but I was bulimic before I was diagnosed with depression
I don't like bulimia
I really hate it
I just want to lose about 20 lbs
I'm 5'2.5 & weigh about 124
I checked my bmi a few weeks ago and it said I was at risk of becoming overweight
that really upset me
the boy I like used to be anorexic
he's really great
& he was the reason I became bulimic this time
he didn't pressure me or insult me or anything
he is just so skinny and it makes me insecure when I am around him
I am bulimic right now
& I know this is serious
I just don't know what to do!

oh yeah
I am currently seeing a therapist
just about depression though
this is probably a chemical imbalance
because it runs in my family
I am prescribed amytriptaline
but I refuse to take it because a side effect is weight gain and it helps with bulimia
which I don't want
my mom doesn't know thats why I don't take it though

You should really tell your mom about your bullimia. You know, if you don't tell her soon it could become a really big health issue. I think that your mom will be very understanding, and you should ask for help even if you don't want it you need to get it. I'm not trying to force you to do anything but tellin gyour mom is the right thing to do.
I'm 13 too, and I really feel fat a lot. I'm friends with all those really skinny people and Im alwaysfeleing soo fat. I'm always watching what i eat even though i know im average... Im very wary though because i know that if i try too hard to lose weight then i could become annorexic or bullemic.
I recommend that instead of being bullemic you should start to work out more... just start to run a lot and play sports for fun. This is a much more healthy alternative to work on your figure than being byllemic.
So, yeah, you should really tell your mom... don't be afraid to ask for help. And you really shouldnt worry about what others think, or compare yourself to them. Im still learning this but if you dont compare yourself to others, only to yourslef, then you will feel much better about yourself.
Tell your mom!!! This may really be life or death if you don't
--good luck

This is serious..But you should seriously tell someone..write it in a letter and reherse it if it makes you more comfortable. I once read a book called "DREAMLAND" by Sarah Dessen. It's about a girl who fell in love with a guy after her sister ran away with her lover. Anywayz, the Boyfriend starts being abusive towards the girl (hitting her, smacking her, having sex with her) and she wouldn't tell her mom. The boyfriend hit her only where it wouldn't show, the shoulders, arms, legs. So she put on pants and everything, covering it up for a year or so. As an escape, she started taking drugs. Near the climax, the boyfriend gets EXTREMELY angry at her because she made him wait a hour, so he beat her extremely badly, out in the open. He gets arrested, blah blah blah, and she is exiled to Rehab.
The point is, not telling people about very serious problems is extremely dangerous.Anything could happen to you. Bulemia CAN and WILL Kill you, if you continue with it. Besides, if you're attracted to this guy, all the throwing up and stuff kills your teeth. Therefore you won't have a chance. :D

well i lived with bulimics and anorexics for over 6 months. They were veterens with it, so ingrained into their psyche that like me they were in an institution. Self esteem can't come from physical appearance because there is no such thing as feeling the perfect size.
Not really sure what to say except this. Anorexics think they never get sick with like the flu and so forth but really they are so used to having a low physical well being that a cold on top of it in unnoticible...do you want to feel that low of energy?

I've struggled with eating disorders for most of my life, so I understand where you're coming from. It's hard to stop once you've started. But you gotta remember, no one can help you recover unless you really WANT to recover. It's a slow process, and it doesn't happen all at once. You have to gradually ease out of that mindset it puts you in, and resist the thought of purging.
I'd suggest asking for help before it gets too far out of hand. Bulimia is really damaging to your body, the acid tears your throat up, and rots your teeth and all that crap.

bulimia is not the way, girl. it'll make you ugly, capillaries in your face may break when you force yourself to vomit, causing a puffy face. the acids from your stomach will eat the enamel of your teeth, giving yellow and sensitive teeth.
electrolyte imbalances may endanger your life, as they may cause various organs in your body to malfunction, and some even had their hearts stop working!
i would suggest you do it the natural way. you eat healthy, fruits and vegetables and avoid overprocessed and fatty foods. exercise, it doesn't only melt away the fat, it strengthens your body and increases your energy.
you'll appreciate more the pounds you shed because you did it the hard way, and so would be more motivated to continue and maintain it.
do it the natural way and live to enjoy your new body!

If you want to help yourself and you want to LIVE, then you need to tell your mom. She can only help you and remember she LOVES you! If you want to loose weight eat about 1500 calories a day and start exercising at least half an hour at least three to four times a week.
Good luck and don't feel insecure around guys. Girls are supposed to have a little more fat.
Remember, your mom LOVES YOU!!!

You should definitely tell her. Bulimia hurts your body in a devastating way. Tell your therapist as well, and if you want to tone up a bit, run or walk daily. It will make you feel better too.

Tell your mom now!! Or better yet, give me her e-mail address, and I'll tell her. But get it done soon.

P.S. Every time you throw up, the stomach acid you chuck damages your tooth enamel a lot.
