Ok so.. Sophie is pregnant, and has about 2 weeks left, she's stopped eating, as i have said before, we adopted her and didnt know she was pregnant before get got her, we live in a small northern town in canada and are hours away from a vet, so we havent gotten her checked.
My bf's fam had a dog that was bred, so he knows a thing or two about dog pregnancy although im not too sure about this not eating bit that she's got going on.
As of two days ago she hasnt been taking water as much as the norm. I've been trying to get her to drink milk also, but she tastes it then leaves it alone (same thing she does with her food).
I afraid that she was going to starve to death. So i tried to feed her chicken noodle soup. She tasted the soup and walked away but kept walking back and forth in front of it, i noticed this and put some of it in my hand, n she ate straight from it, should i keep feeding her this way until the pups come or just leave her w the dog food?

Not being able to afford the vet is not a problem, its just that we're so far up north its hard to get to one, they have veterinarian students that come up here every year to spade n nutuer dogs but thats it. So yeah basically the problem is getting out to see one, since i dont drive its even more difficult.

Most dogs stop eating before having pups, sometimes they stop dys before they give birth, do you have a set place ready for her to have her babies? She may be stressing out becuase she knows she needs to find a bed to have her babies in! i would leave her with her food, put the food near her 'bed' where you want her to have her pups, keep her as near to the bed as possible, and if you let her outside to go to the toilet, watch her, they go to the toilet just before they begin labour! if she has not eaten by tomorrow, i would hand feed her, and if she hasn't had her pups, or started eating properly again by the end of the week, i would attempt to get her to a vet, or call an after hours vetinary advice line. If you place your hand on the lower part of her tummy (without pushing on her) you should be able to feel the puppies moving around! if they are moving a lot, then they are probably trying to get into possition for the birth (and that will make her uncomfortable, stopping her from eating) Good luck!

my friend has a siberian husky that gave birth around 3 weeks ago now. around 2 weeks before the birth the bi tch gave up eating for a week or so, and anything you did would not encourage her to eat. she saw the vet and th vet just told us not to worry, its a natural thing, then the week before she was due to give birth, we couldnt feed her enough, she was taking 4-5 bowls of food a day! again the vet said just to keep feeding her because she will lose alot of weight and will need the nutrients for the puppies when they born.
the pups are now 3 weeks old. mums still eating 4 bowls or food a day but the babies are doing well very, growing strong.

good luck with the pups

She absolutely must go to a vet.

A human doctor cannot assist.

If you cannot afford a vet you can take her to an animal hospital run by a charity that will provide a free or subsidized service. For services in Canada check the local telephone directory or at least call a registered vet for advice. Not taking a dog or any animal in need to a vet is recognized neglect. There are free services if cost is an issue and if you are unable to make the trip - call a vet to find out if there is one on call in your area.

I have had dogs my whole life and I have found if they have stomach problems and are not eating, you should change their diet slightly. White meat chicken and brown rice (small portion) is easier on their digestion and you should always make sure their food is cold. Never serve them hot food.

None of my dogs have ever been pregnant with puppies and for this reason I think it is even more important that you consult a vet.

When the puppies arrive - you must not interfere with the bonding process, allow the pups to suckle with minimum handling in the first few days.

A safe and warm place to sleep is important for mother and puppies and she will most likely need more water/feeds when nursing.

Cows milk is not recommended for dogs. Stick to water.

Hope this helps.

Tried giving her anything else? Chicken and rice, cottage cheese, yogurt, anything that will tempt her. You can also add a little chicken broth to her water to tempt her to drink more.

Try what ever works. She needs to eat and drink to keep her and the puppies healthy. She shouldn't be losing weight. And she really should be seen by a vet.

Most dogs will stop eating 24 hours before they have their puppies. You can check their temperature and see if it has dropped below 100 degrees (normal is 101-102). If so, she should be starting labor within 24 hours.

you may very truthfully make extraordinarily nutritious food for her! I made food for my dogs for a protracted time throughout the time of and after that poisonous dogs food scare. you will want a sturdy animal protein - floor turkey + beef liver or floor beef + beef liver. prepare dinner the beef thoroughly, and use a knife to cut the liver very fantastic. continuously the liver - for the iron! (it is disgusting, so be arranged for that!) one after the different, boil green beans and diced carrots with various bones. you may convey at the same time the bones from something you consume - roast beef, fried chicken, it concerns no longer! purely be helpful you incorporate the bones, or maybe positioned a splash of vinegar to extract all of the minerals. Take those bones out previously you feed it to her! Mash each little thing at the same time - we known because it "dogs Stew." do no longer upload salt, do no longer use onions or garlic as those are unfavourable for dogs. do no longer attempt to spice it up in any way - shop it trouble-free! finally, do no longer drain any fat, and once you employ turkey, you additionally can upload fat strained off of something you prepare dinner for your self - fat are necessary for the dogs's coat and additionally for her being pregnant. I normally made sufficient to fill a brilliant stew pot - iced over a million/2 and stored something in the refrigerator. you will comprehend how lots to feed her in reaction to her gaining weight, yet no longer getting obese. it is greater ideal than dry or canned, so she'll continuously opt for to consume better than she could. this completely spoiled my dogs, and later I had to progressively take it away by way of mixing it with dry, slightly much less daily till we've been decrease back to in trouble-free terms dry. sturdy success!

So if you can't get to the vet, just try ringing one and asking for their advice. Give them the explanation you've given here and see what they say. Then act on the professional's advice, not ours.

if she isn't eating, there could be a number of issues...

and when was the last time it went to a vet? if you live on a farm, perhaps your farm vet could look at her?

if she's unhealthy looking, she probably has parasites and god knows what else. they can kill a dog, because they suck all of the nutrients from them.

that's my best answer...
