Speaking from experience.....I just finished singing songs for an upcoming audition in the shower at 5:00 a.m....LOL! It sounds better because of the acoustics. It's also a good place to sing, since the hot water helps warm up the singing voice.

Jeez, I hope not. I get paid to sing occasionally.
Actually, you mauy sing better in the shower. Part of my preparation for a gig is to take a nice hot shower. This moistens my nasal passages, clears out my sinuses, and helps me breath better ( I have asthma) without taking OTC decongestants which would dry me out. So, given this cleansing effect, you migth actually sing better in the shower!
Howevewr, you almost always SOUND better in the shower. That's because of the reverb created by the hard shower walls, and bathroom walls. The sound bouncing off the walls tends to cancel, to some extent, slightly out of tune waveforms and reinforces the dominant in-tune wave forms.
In the old days, one of the techniques used to induce reverb into recordings was to send the live signal via a speaker to a reverb room. which was a room constructed of tile or other hard material(like a bathroom), and to record the sound coming from the speaker with a mic. Sometimes the singer themself would stand in such a room, although the effect was less predictable, since people move and speakers don't

The steam opens up your throat and moistens it so you have an easier time getting notes out. And the bathroom acts like a reverb as well, so we hear all this massive, echoey sound that appears impressive instead of just our own voices without amplification. But technically you don't actually sing better in the shower. The only thing that helps your voice is the steam.

Most people like their own voice in the shower because of the deep note reverberation. This is very much like the reverberation that occurs in one's own skull, so the effect is just to reinforce the sound we hear in our own heads. The problem is, other people listening to our singing hear it as it truly is, without the deep note reverberation. So all the breathiness and scratchiness that might be there, but not reverberating in one's own head, is heard clearly by the outside listener.
Do your family a favor -- if they don't think you can sing normally, don't inflict it on them while you're in the shower either! LOL

:Probably not, but in the shower we are probably less inhibited and just open our lungs and sing.
The best way for anyone to learn about singing is to join a chior. You don't have to be that good, just able to sing on key. The rest happens and the chiormaster will put things right.

Everybody loves Bing Crosby because Bing sings the way everybody thinks they sing in the shower.

IT SOUNDS better for 2 reasons.1 The noise from the water acts like white noise, and 2 The bathroom produces a natural reverb. Some people even set their amps up in a bathroom and directional mic them for the reverb that a bathroom produces.

No. However, your confidence is raised as you do in fact "sound" better. The acoustics of the tiled walls in your shower creates a reverb that is even emulated by studio gear in professioal studios.

If you warm up correctly you will sound just as good. You sound better in the shower because the heat opens up your throat.
