I find that it is easier when I use a tip frm my Gran put the tin on a damp tea-towel (this holds the tin in place and then it doesn't slip round and cut you).
Also do it VERY VERY slowly.
Take your time and you are less likely to get frustrated!
FYI: Spam comes in pop cans in the UK, maybe corned beef will too one day!
Cross your fingers while you still have them all!

Simply , have corned beef well-refrigerated.
Remove from fridge, use key carefully, label sometimes
sticks, but take time..
When top removed, reverse tin.
Use ordinary can -opener to open.
Make sure bottom is completely opened, then push it
thro'.....resulting in corned beef coming out in one piece,
& no accidental cuts to you.
Alternatively use the can opener at both ends, same procedure........What a performance...eh...?

its a design floor to infuriate mankind it was originally designed during WW1 for the soldiers in the trenches the original name of it was bully beef then later the name changed to corned beef you got to be very gentle with the key to get it off the can at first then work out which way the can seal goes then be gentle with that at first then if your lucky you get crap reconstituted meat that's no good to the body at all but because of all the chemicals they put in it, it tastes good Ive never seen beef that colour before other than out of a corned beef tin have you?

well it can be and has been in the past, but if you make sure the key handle is facing away from the can it will not do that and turn it slow.... If that fails you.. on the large end use a can opener and poke a hole in the other end and blow through that lil hole.... Put in ice box for 15 min before cutting.

I cut three fingers, nearly to the bone as a kid, (aged around 10) trying to open one of those Fu@#ing things, honest. I still have slight scarring, I'm 39 now.

Yes. it's a conspiracy against us. Plus if your not careful, you will have to go to ER and be stitched up form where you sliced your hand or fingers with the band around the can. Seems with the Technology we have today, they could do away with the key cans and replace them with the pop-top cans. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I always use my good old Pampered Chef can opener on those stupid cans. It is rough going over the ring, but it is possible and once you cut the top off the meat slides right out.
