ESPN has said that they are going to power down the set whenever they are not on the air, i am wondering if the power used to reboot everything (lights, computers ect.) cancel out what they were saving?

Powering things up does not take more power than running them normally. That is just a myth. The real reason to keep everything running is that things fail more often when being started than when they are just left running. Even a simple light bulb. I have never seen a light that had been on for a while suddenly burn out. They always suddenly burn out when switched on.

Reboot takes maybe a minute, and uses little more power than running.

If they'd be turned off for a few minutes, it clearly saves energy.

The same is true for anything around your home.

That's a great question, but I think it's NBC. They just performed their halftime show in the dark.

Unbelievable.
