Stop attacking little boys and deal with the current scandals in an open and honest manner. Kids recognize duplicity and don't respond well to it.

What did Jesus do?

He told the young rich man that he had to keep the commandments, honor his parents, sell everything he had, give the money to the poor, and follow Him.

You see, the Church is in the World, but not of the World. The Church is not going to say things just to appease the restlessness of a segment of the population. That the Catholic Church is not relevant to to "modern" youth is a problem for the parents. At my parish, there is a vibrant Youth Group, and a spirit-filled Youth Liturgy every Sunday Afternoon. Not all Catholic Youth believe that the Church is not relevant to them.

If you want to be entertained, amused, and feel good in a worldly way, then the Catholic Church is not for you. You can go to a rock concert, play video games, or take drugs to achieve entertainment, amusement, and good feelings. However, if you want a practical and sure way to know, serve, and love the Lord, the Catholic Church is a viable option.

The Catholic Church is relevant and relatable to modern youth.

We just need:
+ Parents to take their role as primary educators of their children seriously
+ Spirit-filled and well trained youth ministers to help modern youth to realize this truth.

With love in Christ.

I think as time goes, the flow of new recruits will continue to dininsh.

Having a belief system thats feels its OK to mutilate a baby boys genitals (in the name of some imaginary "god") and promoting the idea that condoms are a sin is no way forward in this world.

Youth are more likely to reject the superstition, hearsay, and abuse that is the catholic church. The catholic church will eventually die out like all other religions have done before it.

We have always to keep in mind that in making a difference in the lives of people in a culture that has become global, we cannot anymore focus on only one sector as what we have been used to doing in the past. Many of the past modalities have become irrelevant. An organization can be very effective if first it studies how it can exist and move, not independently, but as part of the whole social system, a system where there are complex problems and then plan strategies to effect change and progress for the whole, not just for one sector, considering the nature and resources that an organization possesses. There is a need to network to attain a result that is wholistic.

Boundaries and structures cannot anymore be as rigid as before but must intelligently allow blending of interpenetrating universal principles where all of us, members of the whole social system, will together mutually support each other towards development. We cannot be too presumptuous as to think that the youth knows less than the old and that they lack wisdom and so need their guidance. We must have the skill of seeing in these youth their hidden gifts and wisdom and allow their creativity to find responsible expression in diverse situations.

In this 3rd millennium, we all must meet its Spirit, young and old, moving forward hand in hand in humility, openness, love and the faith that the Spirit is in each one inspiring, instructing and revealing.

Interestingly enough, there is a serious inkling of youth towards interior renewal and search for truth and the essence of life. Gradually, a separatist and dichotomizing culture is losing its hold on their minds and hearts. So, the Church will only pave a way for these young minds in their desire to uncover the mysteries of the universe, with the formators themselves taking on the role of models and symbols of God's existence. See infinite possibilities - expand your horizons, because these youth cannot be limited in their search for truth.

Modern youth need to be properly educated by their parents in both word and deed, so they'll be able to appreciate what a great gift the Catholic faith truly is.

Catholic beliefs and practices have always been relevant to people of every age.

Some people are just too ignorant of the facts to realize it.

The real question is how can youth be made more able to appreciate the teachings and grace of the catholic church.

I don't think it can because they are still going by the rules of the church back in the days that the Bible was written. Maybe if they changed the music to more like today's beat it might help.
