While I am scratching my head as to WHY this question is in the R&S category... let me just say this about that....
Three lefts make a right only if you are assuming each left is a 90-deg angle from the path of procession. The same holds true for the "Three rights make a left" proposition. In any case...
Have a blessed day.

no.. not always. i can make 3 lefts and end up where i started.
how do i do this:
i set off from my house and walk a mile south. then i turn and walk a mile east. then i turn again and walk a mile north. wow, i'm at my house again. how? i live at the north pole. :P
(not really, but its just an illustration)
3 lefts only make a right if the angle of the turn is 90 degrees and the 3 distances travled are of the same length.

3 x degree lefts make a 360 - 3x degree right.
so 3 120 degree lefts make -
360 -3*120 degree right
=> a 0 degree right (i.e. straight ahead).

But four lefts put you right back where you started from. One right changes all of that.
