He came home one day with 2 hole-like wounds in his leg and he had to get stiches and a cast. What should I do when he takes his cast off completely and bites at his stiches, opening up his wound? How do I get him to stop?

He needs an elizabethan collar, which you can get from the vet when you take him back to have him resutured! Most emergency vet clinics have these as well, I'd call them now!

If you have a box of cereal in your cupboard you can fashion an emergency collar for him for yourself until you can get him to a vt for a real one. When I had my cat spayed the vet recommend this rather than an expensive collar. Just open the box along the long side and cut it in the shape, then tape it around his neck so he can't reach the wound. Here's a website that explains the procedure for dogs - it will work for a cat too.

Hope he's better soon!

Take him to the vet if he continues. And put a cone-collar around him, maybe wrap the stitches with tape, and tape the cast on maybe.

he needs a cone guard around his neck. So that he's not able to reach it anymore. You need to go back to your vet and have the wounds checked out again. maybe new stitches need to be out in and disinfected, also a new cast needs to be put on.

But definitely put a cone guard on him. he just gnaws at it because it itches.
