People read the bible, or do other religious acts, for different reasons. Some feel they need all the answers so they find someone or something in which to put their faith. Some read the bible 'cause it's what they know; their families have always read the bible so they believe it's what they are supposed to do. Personally, I don’t believe in God because I believe only you can make yourself happy. You can not depend on anyone or anything or any place or any gift or any existence of significance.

It is like letters from God. It tells what not to do by giving illustrations of some who sinned against God and what they did. Saying don't do that!
Telling how some were pleasing to God and how he loved them and helped them. He is a loving father and creator who made a beautiful world for us to live in and how sad he must be to see it being torn up.
Matthew 24:21,22 tells about a great tribulation in which we will think all flesh is gone. Not just people but all flesh.
Every living thing.
But he will step in and save some, we read the bible to be sure we are part of those ones who will be saved.

Because the acronym to Bible is Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
I feel it is in God's plan for me to read the Bible while I am still here on earth. He wants me to read the Bible as one way to develope a closer relationship with Him. Plus, He holds us accountable for our choice in gaining knowledge of His word or our choice in NOT gaining knowledge.

i'm a christian-influenced agnostic... and i feel like the bible is one of the greates books ever written, and the greatest story every told... i find guidance and comfort in reading it... i think more people should read it, or other similar religious texts... (but dont believe everything you read) be careful cuz some of the things in there are not meant to be taken literal, and other things teach flat out hate... read the psalms if you're easily influenced

I read the Bible because I found it interesting, informative, and historical.
It gave me a point of reference when I'm with my friends who believe in God.
I've read it twice.

If I told you there is a path that was taken that your on already and you have examples to show you a easier way so you don't make the very same mistakes again would you take that path?
If you read anything then read them all, and if you read anything in your life surely I would want it to be about me.

Many reasons. Most for spirituality and some for guidance. The Bible is a HOLY rule book that teaches us to love one another as HE (Jesus) has loved us. Beyond religion, its a good moral book that the entire WORLD would benefit from reading, it teaches against hate.
