"In life as in battle"
I have a really nice shirt that says the phrase and I love it. I was thinking about getting a tatoo of the phrase in latin. Can anyone help??

in vita(with a macron above the a, in ablative case) quasi (the conjunction introducing a simile, translated "as" or "just as") in bello (means battle, also with a macron, though optional in this case)

the first translation is also acceptable, but there are multiple words in latin to say the same thing with multiple connotations. Pugna is a more general word meaning fighting, whereas bellum (or bello in this form) refers more to battle or fighting in a war. I would suggest looking up what words you would want to use to say exactly what you mean, and then consult for grammatical advise.

Good Luck!

N.B. here is a website with a list of Latin words, though there are numerous latin websites if you just google it. http://www.math.ubc.ca/~cass/frivs/latin/latin-dict-full.html

In vita sicut in pugna

"ut" has a slight different meaning (as well as "quasi").
I would use "sicut" that means "as, just as, like, in same way, as it were". Also "bellum / in bello" are better translating
"war /in war" instead of "battle". Pugna is way far better.
