If you can, tell me what it is?
Not just that you think its "bad" and you don't like it, because I'm not sure what it is.

The Zionist movement was formed in the 1890's. It's primary goal was the establishment of a Jewish state in the land of Israel. The movement succeed in 1948, with the establishment of the nation of Israel. There is a lot of conflict between the nation of Israel and other Arab states in the Middle East, which would take some time to fully articulate. A lot of it has to do with Jerusalem, the capital of Israel and also the Jewish religious center. Jerusalem is also a major religious city for Christianity and for Islam. So, depending on your religion, ethnicity, political views, etc. you might have some very strong opinions about Zionism and its result.

Wikipedia has a good overview of the topic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zionism but if you need more scholarly sources (for a report, for instance), you local library will likely have some good resources on the history of Israel, Zionism, the Middle East Conflict, etc.

Hope this helps,
Your friendly neighborhood librarian

Zionism is the idea and belief that Jews have a right to a homeland in Israel.

People hate it because they are the same silly people who think that the Zionists (Jews) control the media and all that silly stuff. Zionist just sounds less bigoted than Jews.

It's easy to get away with saying "I hate Zionists" than it is to say "I hate Jews."

This is Zionism in a nutshell, anything else added to the definition is simply someone elses opinion.

Zionism is the belief that Jews are entitled to live in Israel

many Jews believed in it fervently for many years, after WW II then the British carved up Palestine and created a Jewish state, protected by the US and its Allies

whether that was good or bad I will leave it to you to decide, if you talk to the Palestinian people they will of course have a few things to say

Pastor Billy says: your first answer is... wrong, Zionism was/is a atheistic political movement originating in Europe during the mid to late 1800's. It has absolutely nothing to do with Orthodox Judaism.

Zionism is a disease spread all over Palestine by the jews.
You can see its terrible effects upon the Palestinians that are still dying in their homeland and cannot find a cure, thanks mainly to the USA.
