I went from 18-19 mpg in town to 14 mpg in the last two months. No significant driving changes. The local dealership suggests that maybe it is because they are starting to put additive in for winter time. But 25% drop?? Any suggestions??

all computer controlled vehicles run richer in colder weather also. even on a diesel without oxygen sensors, it still has coolant temp and ambient temp sensors that fatten it up. plus if you idle you are burning fuel and not moving, and you overhead console reading will drop way down.

You dealership should do a fuel consumption test. Dodge 2500 is prove to be one of the best truck made today. Have Dodge contact the factory for some help if that don't do it contact the office of Lemon Protection by going to lemonprotection.com for help. You can go on-line and type in Ca Lemon Law look for a 98% win rate, by thye way winter and summer diesel fuel is slightly differant but not enough to cause a fuel mileage drop that high. Good Luck and Good Bless

colder weather will affect it and make it use more fuel there's one thing you need to really do in the winter time and that's make sure you keep the filter changed on it it should be changed every 3 thousand miles in the winter, time especially on diesel engine, you pick up a lot of crap from the stations tanks and this will get in to your fuel lines, but id say your drop is due to the weather, good luck with it.

there is a flash out for the controller on the overhead display for calibration.. you may be getting better mpg than it says. call the dealer it sould still be under warranty. are you replacing the fuel filter and air filter as required? that will burn fuel too. but with that kind of drop i bet its a problem with the overhead

many come to mind air fuel mixture. injectors. pulling any loads? more hills. new tires? more tread = more friction. cold start and warm up time must be accounted for although deisels don't used much at an idle. transmission in those things are notorious for failure. how did you come up with your 25% is fuel gauge working properly the only accurate way is gallons in gallons out don't trust fuel gauge or computer

yes they start adding antigel to diesel, also starting October 15 or so all diesel fuel sold is the new low sulphur diesel, that might also have an effect on milage
