I had a question up earlier regarding my 4mth old puppy's respiratory problems. Is there anything I can give her?

NO, unless you want to KILL your dog. BOTH are TOXIC to dogs!

My professional advice is to call your vet tomorrow, get an appointment, have a proper exam done, get a proper diagnosis, and your vet will give you safe medication.

You need to be EXTREMELY careful when asking these types of questions on YA. I have seen MANY people give advice that could kill pets. You need to listen to me (and the others) when I tell you DO NOT give this pup ANYTHING. You will be doing a lot more harm then good.

Keep your puppy quiet (relaxed) tonight, make sure she eats, give her water, and give her plenty of loving :) Tomorrow morning, phone your vet.

Absolutely not. Amongst other things, ibuprofen can cause severe gastric ulceration, and acute kidney failure. In some dogs sensitive to NSAIDs, it can also cause liver damage. Paracetamol is also a no-no. If she's getting worse, you need to call an emergency vet now.

Like I said when I answered your other question, try putting her in the bathroom and running a bath full of hot water to create steam, or get a steam vaporiser from a chemist. The warm, moist air will help to make her breathing a little more comfortable. Coupage will also help her- put one hand either side of her chest and repeatedly (firmly but gently) slap her rib cage.

There's really nothing you can give her until you can get her to the vet.

No - both will kill it. Find a vet -- open the phone book, call all the vets and one will let you know who is on call -- take her in and have her cared for or wait until morning and hope she lives. But don't try to play vet yourself or listen to people online trying to play vet over the internet --- even a vet over the internet isn't useful as they can't assess you puppy. It is FOUR MONTHS OLD -- that is like allowing a baby to remain sick waiting for a doctor's office to open -- they dehydrate fast and die fast... believe me

add: don't EVEN give aspirin as no one here knows you puppy's weight or condition and you can actually overdose a puppy on aspirin and cause the problem to be worse -- PLEASE get off the internet and on the phone or do nothing... but don't make it worse by playing vet with fools online...

NO, you shouldnt because both of them will be toxic to your dog, there toxic to any dog realy and if you give it your dog may die.You should get your vet to give your dog a check over and to have a good look at your dog because he or she wil know what to do and then he or sh will give you the proper medicine that you may give to your dog.take care of your puppy tonight or untill you find the proper medicine that the vet will give.
Never give your puppy/dog/animal any medicine like this it may harm them even if people say its ok you need to ask your vet.

Acetaminophen (tylenol) and ibuprophen are toxic to dogs. However, if your veterinarian approves, you may be able to give her baby aspirin.

Advise with the vet, even a phone call will assure you, because in large amounts aspirin can be deadly in dogs. In administering any medication to a pet, use much caution, because too much may be toxic, the medicine may not be tolerated, or it can cause an upset stomach or ulcers in your dog. Aspirin is poorly tolerated by young dogs also, since they lack the enzymes necessary to process the aspirin. The same is true for most cats. The way to give the dog the aspirin is also important (ground up, regularly, in food etc.).

Contact the vet's clinic when you can.
Good luck!

NO!!!

Please do not ever give your dog ANY human medication without being prescribed by a vet. It can kill your dog. Some medications CAN be given but the dosage must be monitored by a vet and prescribed for your dog - you don't want to OD your dog.

Please please please don't do this. No matter what you hear on this site.

If you don't believe me. Call an emergency Vet clinic and ask them. Let them tell you what to give your dog! That way you'll get competent medical advice and not some answer by God knows who online.

=)

I would ask a vet. A lot of medicines for humans are harmful to dogs. If you can't take your dog in you could try calling. Good Luck.

NEVER Ibuprophen or Tylenol... What is a pain killer going to do for respiratory problems? You need to see your vet.. Don't give people medications to your dog w/o discussing it with your vet.
