Hi, I have a Dell Latitude X 300. And recently I just installed a webcam. But when I was trying to install it, it says that the Logo of that webcam did not pass the test (something like that) so if i install it, it might mess up my settings. And unfortunately, it did! Whenever I start my laptop it shows the "Sorry for the inconvinience page...you know where u see the SAFE MODE, LAST CONFIGURATION SETTINGS, and the START WINDOWS NORMALLY. So whatever i press there it just wouldn't open my settings and it repeats like that, showing only that page.

Is my settings messed up? Won't it work anymore? if it will, how do i fix it? pls help me, i need my laptop..

I CANNOT CLICK ANYTHING EITHER THE SAFE MODE< THE LAST GOOD CONFIGURATION, because what happens when i click them is that, it loads (appears a white rectangular white box and it reloads) and it always goes back to that page. again..I can't go to My Computer. the only place i can go is when I PRESS F12..

Use your Dell Recovery disks (it's all in the Dell User Manual) to reset your PC to factory specs. You WILL lose all your personal data, if you didn't BACKUP!

If you didn't create your Dell Recovery disks, Call Dell tech support.

Then, return the Web Cam and buy a brand name one with Vista Certified drivers.

Okay, you installed a driver (which is used to translate code between the device and windows XP and make it work) that did not pass Windows XP compatibility. Now windows is having errors starting because of it so you need to uninstall. The only way to do this is to start windows in SAFE MODE. If you see the "Inconvenience" screen every time then you can just select that option. If not, restart you PC and hold F8 down until you come to that screen and then select the SAFE MODE option. If you have multiple users or have a password be sure to select ADMINISTRATOR a the login screen, if not disregard.

Once windows is started, go to START, CONTROL PANEL, ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and select the program for that web cam. This is a 99% fix for your problem. Make sure you have your webcam disconnected from your PC while doing this.

unplug your webcam immediately, then restart the computer
if that doesn't work, select "last good known configuration"

if that still doesn't work, plug the webcam back in, and then boot safe mode
right-click "my computer," and then select properties
go to hardware > device manager, and then look for a driver that may have to do with the webcam (there should be only one)
if you find it, delete the driver, unplug the webcam, restart the computer, and you're done
