I took a bath 10 minutes ago and used a Neutragena face mask, it normaly has a cool burn but this time my face began stinging really bad so I washed it off fast, but now my face is still burning and I look like I have a sunburn. The active ingredient is benzyol peroxide, and I just read the bottle and it went out of date in August of this year. I used pro acrtive before when it was out of date without realizing and had much the same reaction. What I need to know is what can I put on my face to stop the burning or take out the redness?

COLD WATER, COLD WATER, COLD WATER

Go to the sink and rinse your face repeatedly with cold water from the faucet for about a minute, and then again in a couple of minutes if it is still stinging.

I'll edit this answer in a few minutes because I know of some good facial soap. Go rinse your face.

EDIT - I wanted to add two things. You should rinse your face in cold water after washing your face everytime because it closes pores really shut. The other thing is that I've tried all the products on the store shelves, and none of them worked too well. I found one online that works good. It's Cuticura facial soap. It has an antibacterial, and that really kills the oil in the pores. The soap is gentle. I buy it online for $2 a bar, and the S/H is very cheap, too.

Of all the products sold in stores, Noxzema worked best for me, but nothing comes close to Cuticura -- for me anyways.

Good luck.

make sure you have cleaned all of the product off of your face and put a thin layer of soft lotion on your face. this might feel weird but it will cool off your skin. If that won't work, put ice on your face.
