I suggest you read The Nag Hammadi texts which are the basis of the Gnostic Christian religion. It's the only place I know of that refers to a female counterpart to God: Barbelo. In the Apochryphon of John it states: "This is the first thought, his image; she became the womb of everything, for it is she who is prior to them all, the Mother-Father, the first man (Anthropos), the holy Spirit, the thrice-male, the thrice-powerful, the thrice-named androgynous one, and the eternal aeon among the invisible ones, and the first to come forth." Also, in the Gospel of Judas he (Judas) tells Jesus he cannot mention her name, the place he knows/thinks Jesus is from (The realm of Barbelo). I don't know if there are any other references anywhere to a female counterpart to God.
